trunk gas strut mounting question

I am mounting the trunk gas struts and am concerned about the location of the "ballstud bracket". If I install the bracket as described in the manual, won't the edge of the bracket rub against the seat belts once installed? I can flip the strut to the other side of the hinge and then move the bracket towards the center of the vehicle (I have seen this mentioned in other threads - maybe Jeff K described this?), but I want to make sure that the angle of the strut isn't an issue--if done this way the strut is not in a straight line with the hinge/bracket - it would now angle towards the center of the vehicle.

I put the chassis mount between the belts and the hinge ball on the outboard side of the arm.





The slight angle is not an issue.

Alternatively, I suppose you could mount them more inboard if needed? I ask because I mounted my fuse panel on the PS side of the Breeze cubby divider. If I'm right, then dang, I shouldn't have traded my struts and hinges with you!

Pretty sure those are “your” hinges in the photos I posted! They reside in North Carolina now.

I mounted them pretty much in the position indicated in the manual, but pushed as far over as I could without hitting the roll bar hoop. I then trimmed off the corner of the bracket with a carbide grinder and smoothed the edges with sandpaper so they wouldn't chafe the harness.

Based on these photos, would it be reasonable to think I could locate the forward ball mount such that the strut clears the fuse panel? If so, then I'm back in business.

I'm going to see if I can move it just enough to make a difference, but it's limited. I may be able to lay it flat.

just remount it centrally on the cubby panel. you'll need to cut some slots on the cubby panel as well to accommodate for the struts. why do you say the location is limited?

There's only so much slack in the harness to move it.
