bed options other than wood

my kit is due to arrive in a couple weeks. I did not order the bed kit because I'm not sure if that is the way I want to go. if so I will order something from bed wood but wanted to see what other ideas are out there to finish the bed.

Good morning Glen, I used Vinyl Wrap in a carbon fiber pattern. The wife and I did it ourselves and it turned out pretty good. I then put aluminum strips on top to protect the vinyl. (Not that too much will go in the bed other than a cooler) I followed the patern that is etched in the stainless.

I also used 1 inch wide by 1/8 thick window foam tape to cover the steel tube frame of the bed. Hope is to reduce vibration and rattle noise. I attached the bed with nut-zerts making it easy to remove. I have a trans cooler just in front of the gas tank, so the vents are to clear air from the cooler. I also added an aluminum access hatch for the battery. Enjoy the build, time to show off your creativity.

I have read you thread over a half dozen times over the past 6 months and have taken many notes from it. your build has inspired me and I want to thank you for being so detailed in your descriptions. I'm going old school - make it up. Mocked up right now. Will end with coke/pepsi crates, held together underneath with red aluminum diamond plate and a 1" square aluminum tubing frame, and will have an actuator to raise and lower.

Thank you. My wife helped out tremendously, we were able to get it 98% smooth on the first laydown. Because it has a texture to the "carbon fiber" pattern, I was able to come back over the entire bed with a heat gun and a needle to get the last few bubbles out. Just heat, poke, and press. Truth be told, there is one spot that got stuck to itself, but it is hard to spot even up close.
