Roadster Question: Will MK4 FFR Front Brakes Fit an MK1

    Hello -

I have a chance to upgrade my front brakes on my MK1. The brake kit is what comes in the FFR MK4 kit. I do have the 5 lug hubs already. I would just like to know if these will fit on my current MK1 setup or is there something that needs to be changed with the brakes.

    Kit and my hub shown

    Thanks!

    Mark

Looks like a standard SN95 Cobra brake kit. You will need SN95 spindles (straight or dog-leg tie rod arm), new one piece SN95 hub assembly & adapter for SN95 to upper ball joint. You may need to trim the spindle a bit to fit the caliper. I would also change those upper control arms to the SPC setup. It looks like the stock MKI UCA.

No, they won't work with your Fox Spindles. You'd have to change to 1998 or later SN95 spindles or the FFR proprietary spindles (which would require modifying the upper control arm mounts on the chassis). They can also be made to work with 1994-1997 SN95 spindles with some modifications.

Thanks! This is what I wondered, but wanted to confirm. I am not ready to get into all that on this car. At least not now.
