    Ordering Coyote - oil pan question & does FFR sell Coyote

    Ordering Coyote Gen 3 or 4 and was not sure if the stock oil pan will work or if I need an after market pan. Any advice appreciated. Also, saw a post where someone indicated they purchased Coyote through Factory Five. I do not see them on the site. Do they sell them?

    I am sure others will chime in here but in order of your questions:

    1. Stock oil pan does not work, you need to replace with a Moroso unit (there may be others like Milodon but not sure) as well as the oil pump pickup tube;
    2. FF5 does not sell engines. Many here buy theirs through Mike Forte or an outlet like Summit Racing;
    3. You didn't specifically ask this but I don't believe you won't have much luck ordering a Gen 3 Coyote. They have effectively been replaced with Gen 4's.
    Coupe complete kit ordered: 9/26/24. Gen 4 Coyote. T-56. IRS w/3.73. Wilwoods. PS. HVAC. Side windows.

    The Hot Rod Truck typically has more ground clearance than the Roadster or Coupe. My build did. You may be able to get away with the stock Coyote oil pan unless you go with the low suspension settings. Not recommended (at least by me) for street use. Factory Five recommends ride height at front 5-1/2", rear 6". My tires were too close to the fendors at that height. I ended up at 6" front, 6-1/2" rear. Your experience may vary depending on tire/wheel selection and whether you use fenders. The only thing I'm not sure about is if you install the optional electric power steering. I installed a low profile pan for the LS3 in my truck build for that reason alone.

    Factory Five used to sell Coyotes. They did the whole power package -- engine, flywheel/clutch, bell housing, and transmission. They delivered it fully assembled including on a cart. Some guys liked that because they didn't have to assemble all the pieces. Don't know if they're still doing it or not. Easy call to find out.

    Gen 3 Coyotes have been out of production since Ford updated to the Gen 4 Coyote in the 2024 Mustangs. Which was released to the public over a year ago. Ford Performance had a supply of Gen 3's and there were some at various dealers and distributors. By all accounts, those sources have all dried up. They're in salvage if you want to go that way. Several builds are underway with the Gen 4 and I believe Ford Performance has finally released the control packs. The differences from the Gen 3 are subtle if you get the single throttle body version. The one thing I've heard about is a different exhaust manifold bolt pattern on one side. It's a known issue and suppliers should be making the necessary changes.

    Here's their site where you used to be able to buy a Coyote drivetrain. They added the 'parts shortage' verbiage when Ford stopped selling the Gen3 crate. Maybe they'll update this site when they can get a supply of Gen4 crates.

    They had a whole line of them when I visited a few weeks ago; both single and dual throttle body versions.

    So being new to this I am not surprised I didn't know but I thought I had been all over their website. I ordered my kit about a month ago and this was never mentioned in any materials I received and it's not an option when ordering. I actually never even thought about asking them when I ordered my kit. I was planning on ordering from Summit regardless but good to know it's an option.

    Factory Five Advanced Technologies operates as a separate entity. Think of it this way; Factory Five Racing is in one pocket, Factory Five Advanced Tech is in another pocket, Factory Five Extreme trucks is in yet another pocket and so on...but all of the various pockets are in the same pair of pants

    Called and FFR is not currently selling Coyote packages due to the change to Gen 4 and ongoing R&D. They hope to have them available by the first of 2025.
