    Ultrashield seats and heaters

Has anyone with Ultrashield Cobra seats installed heaters? When I ordered my seats I asked about heaters. The response was that they (Ultrashield) do not provide heaters, and their foam and vinyl has not been certified for use with heaters.
If you put in heaters did you have any issues? What heaters did you use?

    Thanks for any info!

I used the Ultrashield cobra low back seats in my build, and added the CobraHeat seat heaters that many others here have used. However, I had my seats reupholstered with custom foam and leather, so I can't advise you on whether the stock foam and vinyl will hold up with the seat heaters. You can see the details on my seats here.

Edit: FWIW - I'm pretty sure that lots of folks have used the CobraHeat seat heaters with both the stock FFR seats as well as Kirkey low backs that are very similar to the Ultrashield low backs, and I've never heard of anyone having issues, so if I had to bet I'd guess you'd be OK. You might what to put an insulating layer down between the aluminum shell and the seat heaters, otherwise the aluminum will conduct a lot of the heat away.

I did exactly as John described with my Ultrashield / CobraHeat seat heaters. I applied the heating elements to the back of the seat cover and added a wide strip of black duct-tape around the perimeter, then installed a thin insulating foam directly to the aluminum seat back to prevent the heat-sink effect (I have a thicker foam cushion on the bottom for comfort (airplane seat foam(?)). This has worked great for 10+ years. My passengers and I have REALLY appreciated those warm seats on the colder cruises! We left one morning in the Ozarks @ 19*. I also have a dash heater and lap blankets, but was snug as a bug on this cruise.
As I said, they work great, but I did have to remove the covers and re-install them after a few years, as they bunched up a bit, but simple fix. I've thought about removing them and re-installing with some contact cement.
Highly recommend with these seats and easy to install!

    Thanks for the replies.

I ordered my Ultrashield Cobra seats several weeks ago. I received a call this week saying they are pretty backed up and it will likely be end of November or early December before they ship.
I need to wire in a circuit and get the heaters on the way.
