    Daytona coupe Reverse Lights Question

    Hi Everyone!! So i wired up my reverse lights on my Tremec TKO 500.
    I bought the pig tail off of Amazon. Wires coming out is the same color so i am assuming that it doesn't matter installation on the two male ends. Meaning either or can be positive.

    Below is a picture of how i wired it up.
    So yes, its not working.
    I put it in reverse, power up the car. Not running, just powered up and the reverse lights not running.
    from my drawing, what did i miss. I am assuming that the speedometer lead is the source of the power to the transmission.

    Typically the reverse switch is a simple switch, that’s it. Either you use it to interrupt the 12v to the lights. Or use it to interrupt the ground. For simplicity ground the reverse lights near the lights at the frame. Run a 12v always on source to the switch, then from the switch to the 12v power to the lights.

    From the picture you posted it appear you ran the ground to one leg of the switch, then the 12v from the top there leg to the lights.

    If you need an easier way to think of it, picture a led light next to a 9v battery, pos to pos neg to neg, it’ll always be on. Put the reverse switch in between either the ground side or the pos side and now you have the ability to turn it off.

    Are the legs on the tremec reversable? or are they specific to negitive and positive?

    Have you tried first to connect directly your reverse lights to the battery just to confirm they light up when under current?

    You have two leads to the switch, one should go to a hot or positive location that comes on with the ignition, the other lead would go to the backup lights. When shifted into reverse the switch will complete the circuit and the lights should come on.

    No. To confirm what others have said, you have to supply the +12 volts. The reverse switch in the transmission is just a simple OFF-ON switch, not connected to anything else in the transmission. Choose a +12V source that's on with the ignition. On my Coupe build, I used the radio circuit (no radio in the build) and shared the backup lights with the American Powertrain reverse lockup module. Both relatively low draw, especially the lights if they're LED's. Route to one side of the switch. The other side to the lights. Then ground the lights. When the ignition on, and the transmission is in reverse, the switch will close and the lights go on. Have done this on a couple builds. Pretty straightforward.
