    Help Identifying This Spring

I found this little guy sitting on the driver's upper floor, below the steering shaft. I have been working on wiring, and I removed my dash (temporarily installed) to work on the wiring behind the dash. I think this spring showed up after I removed my dash. I can't find anything in the dash that this might go to.

    Thanks!

    Greg

Looks similar to the one in the Russ Thompson turn signal.

Sadly, I don't have Russ's turn signal. I'm just using the kit-supplied toggle.

My headlight switch has a sprung button you press to release the shaft. Could it be from a headlight switch?

That's a good guess. I just checked mine, and my sprung button is still intact. The headlight switch spring is about the same size as the little guy in question, but the unidentified spring is stiffer.

Another great guess, but both seem to be intact.

I didn't, but wondering if this spring is off of a tool I'm using. I don't recall any spring-loaded tools. Hummm...

From a broken cleco? Or perhaps from one of your quick clamps?

Well, it certainly didn't come from the spark plug... Seriously, I looked at my dash, and I can't see anything that would have that kind of spring

I thought about a cleco, but I've looked all of mine, and they're all intact. I'm at a loss.

Do you have an NRG quick release hub? There’s a spring in there but I can’t remember how big.

That is a spark plug coilator spring. It provides the spring energy for the electricity to jump the gap in the plug.
