    Door Hinge covers??

Wondering if anyone has created or offers a door hinge cover?

I thought of this 10+ years ago when I was building my roadster and have recently known 2 owners that were involved in accidents that results in stitches to the knees (there were other injuries, but this one may be avoidable or reduced).
The FFR hinges have some sharp edges, wish I had knocked them down before powder-coating.
    Maybe 3D printed and padded??
I think the originals and Superformance had covers(?), don't know about others.

I agree with Mark. This is an area for improved safety. I personally watched both guys he's talking about get stitched up. Hopefully the new MKV has some changes to the hinge. That flat steel makes some large nasty cuts.

Redline makes all kind of leather parts for auto use. When I bought my color coordinated shifter boot, they had an offer, If you suggest, design a part they can make, they will if possible, produce and give you one for your use.
I can see a padded cover with velcro attachment being possible, or a tube that collapses where you can put the hinge bolt in and expand over both sides.
I will be watching for your product.

I was one of those, 8 stitches and some permanent numbness. Someone with a 3D printer might make up something that snaps over the two flat bars that stick out?

That's what I was thinking, 3d printed clip-on, then padded/covered. It would look better and be safer!

Very good Mike. I'm sure you're the guy to tackle this.

I might consider some split heater hose and zip ties, until something more cosmetically pleasing comes along, rather than risk another knee laceration.

The first time I drove my car I realized that hinge bar hit right in the middle of my knee. I cut a square piece of aluminum and riveted it to where it covered that bar,, then glued carpet on it. Now it's a perfect rest for my knee.
