    Turn signals acting strangely

Ok so this is stumping me.

For a while now my turn signals have been flashing, then going solid for 2-30 seconds then flashing again. Everything seems random. It may not show up for a week, then hardly work.

If they are solid, not flashing, and you pull over the front and rear lights are also solid. The outside lights always mirror what the dash light does. So it’s not a bad light. Happens on both sides. Not related to the lights being on.

I’ve completely bypassed the column wiring and are using a new switch to try and narrow it down. No change.

I’ve swapped the flasher relay with the hazard light relay (relay the right word?) and no change.

So.. what? What random wire loose would
    affect both sides?

Replace the flasher can. Potentially both originals are bad.

If you have LED lights, make sure that you are using an LED relay. I had to swap the one that came in the wiring kit with this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...e?ie=UTF8&th=1

The LED flashers that FFR supplies have a ground wire. Being that it is intermittent I would make sure you have a good ground.

Really sounds like a bad ground wire or wires shorting inside the headlight housing or one of the tail light wires shorting against something. With the amount of use your car sees, I can see where a wire could have rubbed itself bare. Didn't you have a fuse issue on this same circuit?

.Turn Signal, What's That & Where Do You Get Them?

Oh, I remember that they told us about those things in Drivers-Ed in 1978.

yeah.. kinda. but there's not much wiring that affects both sides. the ground strap on the flasher, for sure. and the pins on the flasher having a tight fit. so I'll replace it and check those things.

ok, I got my answer... I replaced the flasher unit and used a new ground - and everything worked flawlessly (so far). I've used for a couple days, so it wouldn't failed by now.
