Assembly is finished!!
Today at 9am I installed the last part (the engine call out badges). So assembly is officaly finished! I received the kit March 1st of last year. It took me 10.5 months to build the car and engine. 6 hours a day 6 days a week for 10 months. Build specs and costs to follow.
The weather is crap here in Oregon today. This week is supposed to be dry and sunny. As soon as it is I will get the car out of the shop and into the sun for a few "glammer" shots, which I'll share!
I got my 57 Studebaker back from the sand blasters a few days ago. It is currently occupying the interior of my trailer. The first dry day will have it out of the trailer and into my paint booth. When that happens I'll get pics of the MK4 as I load it up for the trip to the DMV.
So at 9am I finished the assembly. At 9:15 am I started the "tweeking". I had to modify the pax seat attach plate to install it 2" rearward so the door latch handle wont hit the seat. I had the seat where it was most comfortable for the "chief". She's 5'-4".
Here a a few of the latest build pics.

I called Haggerty, they said they cant put it on insurance untill I have a VIN issued by the DMV. The state DMV office in Salem says I can trailer it to the nearest DMV with all my paperwork and make application for a "replica" and get a VIN#, title and registration all in one go.
I had hoped to get the car into the trailer today, but the weather gods, smite thee!. Foggy all day and I wanted to get the beauty pics in the sun. I did get the 57 Studebaker Silver Hawk out of my trailer and into the paint booth. (my next project that got put on hold when I bought the Cobra kit) I will get the Cobra loaded sometime this week. No rain in the forcast but no sun either. So in lieu of the aformentioned beauty pics I took some more in the shop. First up are pics of the completed engine bay.

Congrats on a beautiful build. It’s a great color. I can’t fathom the body work—that’s something out of my league. Well done.

Last up are pics of the completed underside of the car. My camera battery died just as I was getting to the bottom of the engine. (sorry bottom pics of the engine bay will come later).

Thanks for the kudos, Paint is House of Kolor Shimmerin II "Brandywine" over a black sealer base, three coats of clear. Shot by Latino's Touch out of Salem OR. I did all the body work up to and including primer. I delivered it to Pedro ready to shoot the top coat.

Very nice! Looks like a show car. I finished mine almost two years ago. Im an Oregonian too. Central Oregon. Send me a DM and let's see if we can't meet possibly even get a cobra rally meet up this summer. I live in a small town and there's 2 other Cobras here. Lots of car shows too. I have my Cobra insured through American National. They have a special insurance program from classic and custom builds. I pay only $160 every 6 months, full coverage, roadside assistance, rental car etc. I had to get a professional appraisal before they would insure it which was only $200 and had to itemize all the upgraded parts and extras like paint. They didn't include my labor but it came out to $68K appraised value. There is a mileage cap of 2500 miles/year which I haven't even come close. In two years I have 900 miles total. I trailer it if I need to take it over the pass.

Thanks for the Kudo's. I now have 5 classics (the Cobra, 70 Cougar 427FE Eliminator, 29 Chevy PU, 47 Merc Coupe, Supercharged 2018 Mustang GT) all insured with Haggerty. They give me a great discount for the 5 cars with unlimited miles and all the bells and whistles. I am also restoring a 57 Studebaker Silver Hawk, and I have a 48 Federal Truck & 65 El Camino waiting in the wings. I'm happy with Haggerty, but thanks for the tip.
