Thats the location I put mine. I did offset mine just to give the cable a straighter run. Others have not. Personal preference I guess.

Mine is on the firewall in a similar location that you pictured. Just rotated slightly to point at the first wheel box. I have it on rubber standoffs. Works fine. Had only seen a few sweeps in my first several seasons. But was in a real rainstorm this past season. Did the job.

Thanks for the input.
Do you guys foresee any performance issues with mounting it directly to the firewall versus using some type of standoff? I expect (hope) they will only get light use.

I mounted mine with rubber mounts to reduce the noise a hard mount could make in the cockpit. I made some extensions and bolted on per the picture. I didn't want to use the four corner bolts directly since they also hold the case halves together. It's complicated in there plus messy with the packed grease. I didn't want it coming apart while mounting, removing, etc. I don't think there's anything critical about any of this. Mostly personal preference.

Mine is on a roadster, but essentially the same thing. I mounted mine directly to the firewall, but I reversed the screw direction so the the screws come through the firewall. There's one set of nuts (inside the case, not visible) that hold the back half of the case to the firewall which are secured with loctite. The second set of nuts on the outside secure the outside of the case. This way I can disassemble it if needed by remove the outside set of nuts, which will allow me to remove the outer casing while the back half of the assembly stays attached to the firewall. I haven't used it that much, but the few times I've used it, it worked perfectly and quietly. I did install the thicker FFMetal firewall, though.

I ended mounting it as JohnK has done. It provides access and serviceability to the motor bits. My only slight concern at this point is are the bends necessary to hit the first wiper box. They will be pretty mild compared to some other I have seen and certainly less than the 3” bend limit outlined in the instructions. I can always tweak it and add standoffs later if needed for better alignment. But I don’t think change plane on which it operates will have any effect on the rotating shaft within the tubes. But I am no mechanical engineer either.
Next project will be to diagnose the parking issue with the old motor and get it installed in my Mk3 basket case project. I guess the good news is that I have two partially broken FFR motors that I can hopefully cobble together into one good one.
