    What Oil Pan-347/363

What oil pan/pump/pickup to maintain ground clearance is recommended for our Mk4’s?
Looks like the z2363 I am considering comes with a deep pan.

I have used the Champ Road race pan on multiple builds with good success. That in tandem with the energy motor mounts.

    Certainly nice ones!
Looks like they’re all front sump. Width wise it’ll work but front sump and drain plug on the front? Not sure if that’s kosher in our Mk4. I think we’re better off rear sump no?
Have you used this one before in an FFR Mk4?

That's actually a copy of pans that were in the original 427 Cobras. I'm running the 351W version, fits fine.

Mk4 is wide open and can go front or rear dump. We have to go rear dump with the Mk5.

Now you know you can't put a Chevy engine in a copy of a British sports car. Chevys only go in Ford street rods.

Rich do you have this one on your 331?
Wondering if main caps have to be ground to make this fit the 302 platform as Aviad told me today on the phone.

Is there an advantage to one over another?

I have a 351 so very similar. It will fit a 4 bolt main block as long as main #1 & #5 are 2 bolts like a Dart SHP block. SVO and Iron Eagle blocks have all 4 bolt main caps and these pans will not fit those.

I’d have to say the Aviaid looks like it has the highest quality of workmanship of any of the pans.
I do notice is 6qt capacity vs the Champs 8qt
Any issue with that, say running hotter, increased wear, etc?

    It is very high quality.

It's 6 quarts plus the filter. This is plenty of oil for a street engine, especially if you run a high performance oil like Driven.

I changed from a factory Mustang pan to a rear sump Kevko F901 Cobra Kit Car model. I’m happy with the quality and 7+1 capacity. It fixed the oil pressure drop I saw during heavy braking in early go cart drives.

Depending on your motor mounts and how your engine sits in the frame that Kevko 7.5" pan could hang slightly below the frame rails, not something you want.

"What oil pan/pump/pickup to maintain ground clearance is recommended for our Mk4’s? Looks like the z2363 I am considering comes with a deep pan."

I'm almost certain the front sump pan that comes on the Z2363 crate engine will give enough clearance on a Mk4. I have that oil pan (https://performanceparts.ford.com/part/M-6675-FT302) on the 302 in my Gen 2 Type 65 and it does not hang below the frame rails (I am using Energy Suspension engine mounts). I can't comment on the rear sump version, nor on how effective it is on a track. The price was very steep to buy it separately, but the quality was there, for what that's worth.
