    outer corvette cv removal

I am having a hard time removing corvette cv off of corvette axles. I mounted in vise, removed boot, cleaned grease up and started "tapping" the inner race. Nothing is moving, started to hit harder, still nothing. Is there a clip somewhere that needs to be removed or is there a trick to this. I guess I am hesitant to pound the crap out of it to remove. Has anyone had a stuborn cv that is hard to remove? and what did you do to remove it.
I posted same question on other forum, but thought more are moving over here for questions.

    thanks for your time.
