Hey I build both, where do I stand lol
It is a CLC 17. However, it is the LT version (1" less freeboard) with 3mm wood deck and hull. Weighs 40 lb.
I fiqured that there was some inside kit car joke about some boatbuilder taking off the body of a VW and making a high end sports car looking thing out of it. Miami Vice comes to mind.
Project after this will be a Zeinth 750.
I believe Flytosail is correct, the bondo-duck tape boat builder comment might be directed at another Smyth.

Nice boat! I built a CLC 17LT (a long time ago now) They're impressively rugged...I treated it like furniture just after I built it until I realized it's meant to be used.
Some people can't help but build stuff, heh.
When I posted that "tongue in cheek", I had a very good idea who the former boat builder was. Following FFR for the last 15 years you tend to learn a lot of history, and Dave takes jabs quite often on this forum. I hope its all in fun whatever the history, because at then end of the day these are just cars and there are a lot of things more important in life.
I can do anything with enough time and money.
