Screws for Plate that connects to the Door Latches

    Hello everyone.

I am trying to find the small screws that screw the flat plate onto the Door latch assembly. Factory Five told me it was part #11086 but that is an invalid number on their website.

Has anyone had the unfortunate pleasure of losing them? I tried Auto Zone, Home Depot, Lowes and I cannot find any screws that will fit! Quite frustrating.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you have an Ace Hardware nearby, they usually have a MUCH better fastener section than HD or Lowes. That includes selection and quality.

According to my inventory, part #11086 (#8 x 1.5" sheet metal screw) is for the rearview mirror, not the door latches.

The screws used to mount the door latch assembly to the door are part #10983 (#8 x 3/4").

If you don't feel like going to the hardware store, PM your address to me & I'll send you mine (I used riv-nuts in size #10-32 to mount my door latch assemblies; see post #438 of my build log https://www.ffcars.com/forums/17-fac...ter-build.html).

    Cheers,

I just took one of the screws out of my latch cover and it is smaller than the smallest thread gauge I have, which is a #6-32, but not by much. I'm thinking a #5-40x1/4 may be right, but I can't confirm that.

Update: I measured the thread diameter with my caliper and it showed 0.113". A #4 is 0.112", so now it just comes down to the threads, which are likely 40, so something like this should work:

I have often lost the screws so found them on Moss Motors web site … item 58 https://mossmotors.com/mg-tc-td-tf/b...-td-chrome#top
And to keep them in the cover I put a dab of silicon gasket on them - keeps them from loosening up BUT still lets you unscrew them ok.

Cost me a whole $3.50 for 100 of them delivered to my door. Would have spent more in gas going around looking for them. Yes I have lot of leftover spare nuts and bolts from the build.

I lost two of them during my build. Seriously, I think you ought to put a post on the "for sale" section and sell them off at $0.25 each plus shipping. You will make a munch a bunny and our forum members will love you! Those suckers are hard to hold on to, and even harder to find when you lose them.

You want to sell 20-30 of them for like $5 or $10? I would rather pay a member than a store, plus will save me plenty of time/gas. Let me know!

That's a fairly common size in the hobby/RC industry so you may be able to find them at your local hobby shop. Just a thought. Scott
