    wiring harness and gages

    I have some questions:

It turns out that what I have heard might be true and I am finding out that half of what is in the dash harness might not be required. Would someone that has been through this please correct me if I am wrong.
I do not think the fan switch and turn signal wires are required except for the indicator lights in the dash. Isn't all that taken care of in the steering column? Was the harness designed for the roadster?
I have taken or will take nearly a foot out of the ignition switch and the headlight switch group of wires just to clean it up a bit.
Also what will be the second wire to the brake light switch beside the orange if the purple one is not used as stated in the manual?

I cut out all the dash switch wiring since it is all in the column and just splits off to the dash harness. I Just connected the battery and the brake lights got power with the purple and orange wire connected to the switch. The purple wire goes to the brake lights, not sure how they would work without it but it does say that in the manual. I will need to check that out.

I cut a lot of wiring out and added in a bunch, eliminated the headlight switch in favor of rocker switches. I wish I had kept better track of the changes I made.

I did get the brake light switch figured out. At least in my case I had to reattach the purple wire to the brake switch and what the manual said to do was incorrect. Also because I had eliminated the fan switch wires in the dash harness I had to jumper a couple wires in the main harness to turn the fan relay on all the time as I wanted to control the fan with the thermostat switch on the radiator.
