Snakes & Grapes 2014: Return to Watkins Glen International Speedway
Guys,
Just got back from a "little" run around Seneca Lake in Central NY. The name Snakes and Grapes comes from two wild and crazy brothers, one owns a Cobra (FFR Mark III) and the other has a Viper GTS. The Grape part is for all the Wineries which encircle the lake. http://www.senecalakewine.com/ You now can understand the perfect combination you can get from mixing grapes with snakes. The women enjoy a wonderful time stopping at the wineries and the guys have a blast getting there!
At the south end of the lake is a little race track a few of you guys may have heard of, Watkins Glen International. I met up with the group in Geneva, NY (top of the lake) and took a spirited 45 mile ride to "The Glen". At the track they offer 3 "paced" laps for $25. Let just say our "pace" put us in the triple digits, but out of the catch fence.
This year I was able to coerce my wife to attend, and join me for a few laps around the track. Her reaction was downright priceless when I dropped the clutch and she starts yelling at me like old wet hen. Needless to say there was quite a bit of wine purchased to make up for it!
