First post: I'm a life long gearhead/wrench currently running a vintage Tommy Riggins '85 Buick Somerset IMSA car and a Radical with several vintage clubs, and looking for a new project. I'm noodling around with the idea of a stripped down GTM supercar sans body. Visualize an open wheel asphalt super modified: modified GTM chassis with removable body panels, large front splitter and rear wing. Just the basics and probably using an all aluminum 18 degree SBC. Strictly a track car. Some questions: has anyone done this?, does anyone know of a chassis for sale?, has anyone built a supercar using the traditional SBC rather than an LS engine with all its wiring and computer? It looks like there is plenty of room in the engine bay for a preLS SBC. I would appreciate any input.
