    VCP 818R Quick build

I got a 818R from a guy in Atlanta that is unable to finish it due to health reasons so I'm going to try to build it up in the next 7 days. I was able to get in about 4 hours today and got all of the steering and front suspension in.

    Starting

At the end of day 1/2

    Wayne,
Keep us posted on how quick you can build this.
Is this car going to be stock or will it get all the VCP goodies?
Does this car go back to the customer or are you going to race it?

It took us 19 hours to have a roller with the steering rack and pedal box installed. Wayne is super human.

He doesn't have to waste all that time where we look at what we have and have to figure out what to do, he has been there before. My second body install was more than 5x as fast.

I squeezed in 4 more hours this afternoon. Cooling system, radiator/nose mount, AWIC heat exchanger and AWIC pump and lines. I ran out of hose clamps on the passenger side coolant tube.

    7 days?
First, how can you build something in 7 days when it takes us 1-2 years and second are your days 12-15h or 24h of work? Just kidding. That's going to be an awesome challenge! Let's see in 4 days! Clock is ticking Wayne, go back to work.

Any concern with the amount of weight hanging over behind the rear set of jack stands in that video? The entire motor/trans is behind that plane at one point without much up front (say about the 3 minute 11 second mark for example).

Just curious since I will be finishing off some of the underbody aluminum panels, etc in the coming weeks and I have generally put my lift arms back near the motor mounts. Won't be able to do that soon.

    Thanks!

There is plenty of weight forward to keep it from tipping. I just stood up (185 lbs) on the rearmost part of the frame and it didn't even hint at lifting the front end.

I've actually found that where Wayne has his jack stands is just about the center of gravity. When I support mine there I can lift either end with barely any effort.

I went to the front of the car and lifted by the radiator support while standing on a scale and it took 142 lbs of additional lifting to hold the front end.

Was only able to put in 3 1/2 hours today, put the big Wilwood brake package, mounted the master cylinder reservoirs, put in the shifter, removed the firewalls and bled the brakes.

I love those brakes! But they don't look like the 6-piston ones, they look 4-piston with black discs.

Oh I know but they came with the 818R, I would have put the 4 piston on there from a rotational weight standpoint.

I've been slammed at work, prepping 2 race cars, helping a friend change a motor in his 07 F150 4wd and was at the Ultimate Track Car Challenge yesterday. GM gave GRM a "track ready" 2016 Camaro to play with and I got 25 laps in it yesterday.

I'm using the hard lines and the rub is so slight that it's a non issue.

I have the hard line too, and my rub was very minor, but I figured it would be worse when the car was lowered as the tierods will come up. I got Rori's spacer and I have a 1/4" now.

    TY.
