    Hello everyone from Hermon Maine

    I built my mk3 roadster 10 years ago, not having a clue of what I was doing but enjoying every minute of it, and am rebuilding it now. I have been following many of the threads lately and have great appreciation for all the expertise there is out there. Thanks for the info and I am looking forward to joining the discussions!

    Hi,

    Welcome to the forum. I have a MKIII as well. Curious why you are rebuilding. Is it going to be a frame up resto or are you changing configuration say engine, suspension, etc?

    I think I will be doing mods on mine until I die!

    When you're finished, if someone asks you, "is it real", you can tell them it is a completely restored replica. Bet they hadn't heard that one before.

    Thank you for the warm invite.

    I built my MKIII while I was going to school for Civil Engineering 10 years ago. With that being said, money was short so I was only able to built it around an 88' fox body that I was able to get my hands on. Over the years I have gone through 2 clutches (last one sheared the pads off a Kevlar 4 puck with only 2,000 miles), lost 5th gear on the interstate (C clip retainer fell off), replaced the EFI system with a Edelbrock 600 after she went into limp mode, and the final straw was a blown radiator. I have come to the point that I am tired of applying band-aids and want to build it right. I currently have it torn down to the frame and am starting the build again.

    So far I have installed a brake booster, built 1 1/2" headers, reconfigured the front suspension for SAI and anti-dive, moved the e-brake to the driver's side of the tunnel, extended the passenger's foot box, and widened both sides of the drivers foot box. I am also in the works on shortening the 8.8" rear 4", replacing the 2.73s with 3.27s, building custom rear LCA's, building a fiberglass fan shroud, rebuilding the interior and firewall setup, and a whole bunch of other fun stuff.
