    Another Immigrant from...

...the other forum. What an exciting feel this new forum has. I'm located in NW Florida and finished my MK2 roadster in 2003. I am able to drive it on the tracks here in the southeast, and my favorite is Sebring International Raceway. I recently spent a weekend there with the NARRA Viper club and there were several very fast turbo Neon SRT's giving fits to more expensive track cars. A lightweight turbo'd 818 has the potential to be a hoot on track. If an attractive 818 coupe shape were developed, I may have to learn about Subbies!
Thank you Factory Five for your efforts in establishing this website and developing an awesome line of owner-buildable vehicles.

Welcome - that's a nice trackcar! I especially like the middle photo showing the flex of the rear sidewall.

    Welcome.

I like your track car, something very sharp looking about a bright red Cobra with white side pipes. Also like the Viper BEHIND you!

Bob can you share more about your roll cage? That looks like exactly what I need as my next step. By the way did you used to have a full width FFR roll bar on your car before the cage?

    Thanks for the Compliments!

This is a typical lightweight, no frills 347ci roadster. To make it safe and reliable for track use I've added higher rate springs, revalved Levi Koni dampers, 3 qt Accusump, 12 gallon Fuel Safe cell, 10 inch MOMO steering wheel, a kevlar flywheel scatter blanket, Quartermaster aluminum clutch and flywheel assembly, aggressive brake pads, ARP wheel studs, 3-link rearend with 3.73 r/p and of course a cage.

I started with the FFR bolt-in 2" hoop. I've since had the cage fabricated using inch and a half .120 wall chromemoly. It has a harness bar and door bars welded in. It was intended to fit inside a Lemans hardtop. Purchasing and installing the hardtop is my next project.

    Hi Rick,
Glad you liked the photos. They were taken by Henry Kowalski at Colourtech South. I admit to cropping them to hide the cars behind that I was holding up .
