The chassis number on Mk3 and later can be found stamped on the 2X2 square tube just below and to the left of the upper steering shaft block. Right near your left knee if sitting in the driver's seat. Earlier ones have the four digit serial number welded into the end of the 2X4 tube on the driver side rear wheel well opening. Not easy to find with the body on.

The VIN is determined by local regulations where the car was titled. It may be the same as the Factory Five chassis number. But many times it is not and has no correlation to the chassis number. The location of the VIN tag is also variable based on local regulations.

Sorry, i was thinking the ffr chassis number - i do not know if the build number is part of the chassis number ? I just see everyone stating build number on the posts. I am trying to find the number to see if there is any build threads for it!

Thanks for the help, i am going to go look right now

The Factory Five chassis number you see engraved should be F5R100XXXXRD, where XXXX is the sequential number assigned by FF when the chassis is completed. This 4-digit number is what other forum members are referring to with their builds. They are currently in the 9000's.
