Tire mounting on pin drive wheels - turned away

I bought some tires for my 15" Trigo wheels. Yesterday I went to Discount Tire to get them mounted and they turned me away due to "safety concerns". Then I went to Pep-Boys and they turned me away too, although they said for me to come back on Saturday when their "senior" tech is there.

What am I missing? seems to me - looking at their equipment - that there should be no problem either mounting or balancing the tires.

Has anyone with pin drive wheels had issues with finding a place to mount them?

Try calling your local Porsche dealer and see where they get their tires mounted/balanced at. With the Turbo and GT center lug wheels, whomever does them shouldn't have any issue with pin drive. It may help if you don't tell them it's going on a 'kit', just keep quiet about what it's going on. If they push, just say something vintage and leave it at that.

After getting rejected at a 2nd shop I talked with the tech and the issue is liability related to mounting wheels with spinners. I went home and took the wheels off the car and when brought them back to the tire dealer they had no issue with mounting and balancing the tires.

    Lesson learned.

Good plan, I wouldn't want the tire monkeys pounding on my wheels either.
