Fitment issues with BBK 15150 Shorty Headers

Getting the engine together for mock-up -- looking pretty good to me!

    Then I spotted this:

    Attachment 183981

The header flange is hitting the block where the bellhousing bolts!

I seem to remember other builders having this issue and wonder if it's a quality control issue at BBK. I sent a email to Summit and to BBK. I'll see ho answers first and how to take are of this...

Can you just clearance that flange a bit? I built a roadster which requires you swap the headers side to side and I had to clearance one of the flanges to get a socket on the spark plug.

i'd pull that header and clearance the block rather than the header. These's a lot of meat on that casting and soft iron is a lot easier to cut thatn the flangs afer it's been heated from welding. Also, you open yourself up to rust on those nice coated headers if you grind away at them.

I don't think grinding either would work. It looks as though the ear with the bellhousing bolt would have to be completely cut off to clear the exhaust pipe!
