Lots of progress yesterday and today... Got pretty much ALL the front aluminum done...also completed the adjustment for the wheel and tire combination....

    So disclaimer.....

Alignment is just quickly done and have not taken it out on the road yet....

Seems like it will work out...

Tire size is 235/40/18 ... this is about 1 inch more in diameter than spec.

Initially it rubbed everywhere so stay to spec unless you want this look and a ton of work. I had to make/cut and rebend the outside front firewall aluminum, rear and front fender liners. I am also losing about 1/8 to 1/4 turn at full lock, but this is with the rough alignment. Looks like I could message it some more, but I am going to call it done....also the ride height is at 5" to keep the suspension at correct angle... this means I have to add .5 inches to the rear as well... anyway here ya go...pics!!

stock panel on the left...mine on the right.. made the one tear drop slot go around the weld so it lay flat.

All the front floors are in

it's tight looking but it is a good 1/2 inch..

got the wheel sitting in there nice and centered

Good info, thanks Erik. I was hoping 1" bigger diameter would work, just have to decide if its worth the extra effort for me. Most of the wheels I'm really drawn to only came in 18s or larger, but the rubber gets so thin at 18". I wanted a little extra rubber to have sOmE ride quality, it would be nice if my wife would like to come along for a drive. I'll be watching to hear reports from all the first builds on their ride quality with different wheel/tire combos. I'm not expecting Lexus traits, but don't want to donate a kidney either, lol.

Guys, I took all the tire pressure info and put it in the wheel and tire thread. It's a good discussion so if you want to continue talking about it, please do so over there. I hate to see Erik's build thread get derailed (again) . Thanks.

So the HEAT is back in the south! ... kinda slowed things down a bit in the garage. But I got done what I had planned.

Heat exchanger lines are now run from the back of the car to the front hat exchangers...I still have to hook up the driver's side, but that won't take but 20 minutes...

Here is the exit point right before it hits the exchanger.

so..like what took all day right....

well I decided to hack up the stock wiper assy....

and it works! .. ***disclaimer..this was the one and only time I ran the wiper dry and without it wrapped in a towel.

    Very Nice Erik!

Would you please share installation details and measurements for the single wiper installation? This looks great!

    Hi Erik,

Will the FFR version be much like yours? That is, are they using the OEM unit? Nice work. Thank you, WEK.

Thanks, Erik, for modifying the OE wiper. I hadn't seen anything about an 818 wiper so I was hoping the OE wiper assembly I received from AJW might be useful. Now I know it's possible and that one blade sweeps the windshield. Thanks!

Well happy sad today.....got the axles put together a went for a drive....3rd gear synchro is all done..pops out of third...throw out bearing pulled out of pressure plate and appears to be broken (nasioc.com bought used)... the VF52 turbo takes a LONG time to come into boost!.... anyway other than that....drives nice...still needs an alignment, but everything checks out fine...tranny is under warranty through Subaru and VeryCoolParts.com will hook me up with a new clutch...in the time being, I will throw my stock turbo back in to see if in fact the turbo is the issue...hope so...

    here ya go...

To be honest, ive been slightly concerned i will end up in a similar spot of finding out something doesnt quit work after being in a wreck and then sitting for over a year. Fun to finally get a drive though!

What do you consider long time to boost? That vf52 should be pretty good buildup. Search on legacygt.com for the dyno charts of it.

Nice drive but very long build up on the turbo, yes!

Is your WG dumping to atmosphere?

Thanks guys... Well the only other thing I need to check is that all 4 holes are firing... Compression was fine but my coils and connectors are a question mark... So maybe another issue... Sure feels low on power everywhere... Guess we'll see

That sounds extremely slow, but then again if you were only loging in first gear that could be right. Expect the values in 3rd gear to drop significantly. Also do you have the boost restrictor pill in the small 2" long boost line coming out of the turbo's compressor housing? Thats often a really easy part to over look.

Like your mod to the rear panels. That will look great when you are showing off the engine bay and very functional too. Great work! WEK.
