    Distributor Replacement

Is the MSD distributor #8456 ok to use in the Challenge Series? It is a direct replacement for a 86-93 Mustang 5.0.

Mike, stay away from MSD.. they fail more then they work. Just go to Autozone/Advanced/etc.. and get a refurbished dizzy, they work good.

Ditto. I just had my MSD distributor replaced this weekend. According to a Ford high performance mechanic I use, the Autolite is made with better components.
All I know is my car runs better.

How much was the Ford Autolite dist?....I dislike putting in a Autozone or equivalent distributor; over the years their products have proved to be not a good deal.

I'm not sure. I had some other work done as well, so my bill was higher. I think it is around $200.

That's expensive ! Rockauto has a new Cardone distributor with cap/rotor for $84 (no core fee) and they have the same one Autozone has for $67 + 40 core, still $30+ less than Autozone.

That's not bad for quality. I will do some searching.

    Thanks
    Mike
