I am done fooling around with the fiberglass. I took apart all the body parts and rubber undercoated the backside of all parts. I also used truck bedliner spray on all my wheel well alum. I finished all my wiring for all the lights and just have my fan and radio left to wire. It is 76 degrees here in Florida so I am going to lunch in my 33. Just part of the good fortune to live in Florida. LOL.

Hey brother, does that black show through the gel coat in certain areas? I plan on leaving the car white for a while and didn't want it to change the color. Thanks and looking good.

    Tom,

I thought you sold your '33. Do you still have work to do on it for the new owner?

I have had some questions asked of me on the shifter brackets. Here is an answer I hope that helps. You cut the FFR bracket off at the end of the trans. The VCP shifter has the arm mounted up instead of down. You most likely will have to elongate the holes for the bolts to the trans on the side. Then install the VCP bracket for the other cable. I ran the cables under the intake to the shifter. Mount the cables to the trans first then locate your shifter. This worked well for me. Here is some photos. I hope this helps those who had questions.

I got my Cf and door panels on the 26th. I mounted the CF. And I sprayed the underside of the diffuser with black truck bedliner. Overall I am glad I got the CF stuff. I made some simple mounts for the rear of the front splitter. I used rivnuts and 10-32 screws to the frame every where I could for the CF. I am not that happy with the Door panels. I am going to modify them to meet my needs. I'll post later what I am doing with those.

As far as I know there is no directions published for mounting the cf. I just made mine based on making it more rigid.

Just a BIG cardboard box, plenty of that crushed up kraft paper as packing material, the CF parts, and 4 aluminum vanes for the diffuser... not even a packing list, instructions, you can't be serious! LOL

I just made my best guess. My CF stuff is mostly for looks anyway. On the street I could never drive it to its capability without going to jail. LOL. I did get hardware to mount it, but I used my own S/S stuff. I have a ton of hardware and aluminum left over. I can always use it on another build down the road.

I removed all the body to clean up my undercoat overspray. I found out my doors would drag on the bottom even when I had the door gaps right on the outside closed. The inside of my doors sagged down and would scrap the inside of the side pod. I made a quick fix with a angled piece of alum srcap. Maybe this will help others. I also mounted my Hollywood mirrors. I did not care for the Subie donor ones. Here is some pics. I'll post the door deal in the body thread as well.

The door panels will pull up the inside bottom edge of the door a little, may just give you the clearance you need. Mine has very small gaps and no dragging.

x2...I used the door panel to suck up the "sag" .. but this looks like a good solution as well...Wayne's gaps are REALLY good...I got close but his are much better

    BTW, I like those mirrors!

I finished up my exhaust. I used 2 sprint car noise reducers in the 3" pipe. It is somewhat quieter. LOL. I am still debateing the tip type. This one is OK but I may go round. Now it is off to Huegenics for paint later this week or early next week. This will give me a chance to clean up the shop. And do some side work.

What do you think a muffler is? Race cars now have to meet decibel limits in some areas. Companys make decibel reducing inserts for this reason.

I used "Hushpower" mufflers on my race car when I needed to make sound requirements- (Laguna Seca) Still zaps some power, but much quieter.

Took the 818 to the paint shop today. Settled on a burnt orange as the color. A few shades darker than Wayne's car. I like how it looked with the gold wheels. The front is an easy fix my body guy said. Thank goodness for that. I am covering the door panels in black vinyl and have carbon fiber look inserts. Pictures to come later. I hope to have the car done for the NOPI nationals in Orlando in March.
