Random question. What laser level are you using to level the body?
Well I have until Feb for the first show, quite alot to do really.
Thanks Shawn, I have been in such a lazy mood this month, I need to kick it in the as.
looking good .... those tail lights are tooooooooo coooooool....
my girlfriend has been on my case about why I have not been spending any time lately keeping up with "GENIE".... she will be tickled that you have posted a new video...
Thanks Fugly,
How is your dream going, how close are you to ordering a kit?
I would think at this stage I would be working all night to get it done, but I find myself really haveing to be pushed to get out there. I have a show the first week in Feb.
Gene, it's still going to be a while before I can order my kit... I got a donor (2008 LS7 ZO6 with only 17,000 miles, looks like it did an impression of a pin-ball off those concrete "Jersey Walls" that DOT has taken to lining the hiways with) but have not been able to add much into the "Mason Jar" build fund lately due to other life issues... it's gonna happen, just taking more time than I would like...
Loving the LED lights too! The chase sequence is really cool, and unique.
It's like the saying goes; the back end has to look the best, because that's what everyone will be staring at most of the time.

Gene,
my girlfriend says you are going to have to get on the stick.... she does not like having to wait months between updates & new videos... but she LOVES the burst brake lights...
(I think you have created a monster)...
LOL, I know I really went threw a lazy spot.
Don't the tail lights look so good, I ran a wire up front to hook into the launch control button, it provides a ramdom light show for a couple seconds.
I got the nose wired up this weekend, so now I have head lights.
Hi Gene,
I spent some time going back through this build log, and watching your videos again. What a tremendous gift you're providing for current builders and those who are considering a GTM build!
Very nice stuff, and very much appreciated by myself and everyone here.
Thank you!
Mike

Gene,
I want to second Mikes comments.
I'm in the middle of my build now and continue to refer to your videos to get an idea of the pitfalls that await! Made a few of the mistakes you made before I started watching. Example, I fit the hatch almost exactly the way you did BEFORE I checked the glass fit and had to rebuild the edges. Watching the videos ahead of time will prevent mistakes like that!
Knee deep in fiberglass dust at the moment cutting, glassing, grinding and have gleaned some useful tips from your techniques. I'm bad about just taking pictures and posting my progress, let alone taking the time to film a video.
So, I also thank you for taking so much time to share your build.

Looking good Gene. You have made a lot of progress in the last few weeks. I really like the look of the all black car. Take notice that the dash needs to sit on top of the body on the front edge under the windshield. If you leave it under the body you will be looking at that edge on top of the dash each time you use the car. Not a pretty sight.

Hey Gene,
I made metal clips to attach under the edge of the dash, center and on both sides that clips the dash to the lip of the body and glued 1/8" black rubber padding to the edge of the body to absorb any squeaks and vibrations. The dash snaps over the edge of the body to lock in place.Attachment 36833003.JPG

Good idea mike, I was thinking I would just make it pinch inbetween the glass and the body. I'll see how it goes.
I'm happy with how the dash came out, on to the kick pannels.
Damn, Gene...
You're pumping them out faster than I can keep up!!!!
Nice work. I bet you're glad to see the light at the end of the tunnel!
Excellent work Gene! Wow that was a lot of work. Howevver the progress is outstanding. It's so hard to make things look like they came that way out of the box. My measure of success is when you can't tell what was added or changed. Of course if you see a before and after its obvious but when you just show the after and folks don't see the before its impossible to see what was changed. Well done.

I have been busy, trying to get this thing done. I keep adding more work.
Looking very good gene! Soon it will be done.
Thanks Shawn, I hope so.
Vidal,
I responded to your comment on youtube, but not directly. Your profile is set so I can't respond.
Incredible work Gene. I'm around the same spot of the build on my GTM. The hardest part for me is knowing where to draw the line. I want it to be nice but I just don't want to work on this thing for another year. If I try to keep up with your quality of build, I will never finish. Your Crazy!
Thanks for taking the time to make, and post, these videos. As much as it hurts for me to watch, they are very informative for me and future builders.
I look forward to seeing your car get done, even if it's before I get done.
Sorry for the crapy spelling. I'm super tiered too.

I know many have said it before but thanks for putting these videos out. I look forward to watching them. :-)
I find your attention to detail amazing, I can only hope that my finished product look 1/16th as good.
Man, oh, man, I have been busy. I even spent 4 days in Michigan, frickin cold over there.
Hey Gene,
Very nice work as usual, don't know if you are done with your interior you were talking about tight coat for finishing your glass work. Duratec surfacing gel coat sprayed with a 2.5mm tip gun works well and it is easy to sand and it fills all the little pin holes. A quart of duratec goes a long way and you can get a 2.5mm gun on ebay under $30.00 dollars.
I will have to check that stuff out Mike, thanks.
For know I'm learning how to hydrodip, kind of a tricky learning curve, but it's looking pretty good.

Gene the dipping looks good and a nice touch
BTW: Hurry up and Get-Er-Done
