I am driving here and there, tons of salt and sand on the roads. Going to road tune with my friend on the 18 to dial it in, than final dyno it a couple weeks to follow. Awic Intercooler set up seems pretty good and staying 10-15 degrees above ambient under boost. I want to run it more to see how well it works under load. I suspect 10-20 degrees above ambient will be where it should be. Over that I consider not acceptable an or effective.

BEEN DRIVING THE BEAST< AWIC IS WORKING WELL.
I have both radiator fans on constant @88degrees the Awic was 101-106 in constant boost 12-17 psi, 95-97 out of boost. So for the street it is working well.

FYI The aero 340 pump and similar pumps may over load the stock FPR because the pump is so close to rails. don't ask me how I know... I recommend an adjustable FPR at the least and or rails and larger dia lines. I change everything out and my fuel trims are right were they need to be.

    Who's going to open house????

Well that makes me feel much better about all the time and money I've put into my fuel system. Based on your comments, I'll now be able to tell myself it was "required"

Congrats on getting it dialed in! Wish I could come to the open house but I have gusts in from out of town next weekend. Post some pics!

How was it by default? Only 818 moving under it's own power? I saw a few photos of some R's that I hadn't seen before.

You did an outstanding job on your car. You earned the many praises you received yesterday. I am sure this is the first of many recognitions you will be recognized for with this car. Well done indeed.

No, I think all were running cars, and pretty well done for the most part.

Someone passed the torch to me because they felt mine was worthy of the prize. I do not need to be recognized, and was not easy to except this, but many folks forced it in my hands.

Thanks guys, labor of love, I don't stop till it fits and looks just right. My color choice might be bland to some and not as flashy, but my lines and panel figment is surely second to none, with interior etc that were not afterthoughts, much time and prep went into making it look as Oem as possible. I love building this car, but enjoy driving it even more. I guess my hard work, and advice has helped me earn this spot. Thanks all

After much thought, awic road testing in 90 degree heat, testing on the dyno we ( me and tuner/ friend Matt Miner aka WKDMATTcame up with a safe but powerful power band that handles the heat pull after pull. I am running barely any timing to keep the heat down, but my power band is solid. I have about another 85-100 whp if I wanted it, but this car screams as is. My base dyno run was 265 @14psi on this dyno were a stock sti makes 225whp. Remember it's not just how much you make but from what rpm and for how long a duration. A 8250 redline with power right to it is helpful too lol
    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=K0fMuh6tV_g
    image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

Ps Matt has tuned about 1600 subarus alone, never mind the other brands. He's the Subaru Jesus in the tuning world, very busy even if you know him,a good friend and the fairest guy you can meet. He loves tuning so if anyone needs a good experienced tuner, he's honestly the best one you can get anywhere.

Also Waynes awic proved itself run after run and only got to 110 air intake temps, so for the street it's working. I have both radiator fans kick on at 185 and they cool things down on the exchanger good. I also have a decent gap hood to windshield and I am going to make the mesh less restrictive for even better flow. Exhaust and headers are fully wrapped to. This setup works dumb well for the street.

Awesome! And yes, a good AWIC rocks.
You planning on kicking out more torques or you happy with 265? You seems pretty happy as it is.

Thanks, yeah the awic is working well

If it helps, you have to bleed the system very well for it to work correctly.

I wrapped exhaust completely, and have turbo blanket.

I insulated the bottom of the awic with Hvac heat wrap and covered the hoses with pipe heat insulator.

I am also running both fans on radiator and going to put less restrictive flow mesh for grills.

All this seems to be working in the heat and under moderate to heavy load for sustained sprints. Not sure it would on a race car all out

I got some 0-60,,0-100 test to try soon. I have hit 0-60 in under 4. These tires spin a bit, but that might be helpful at keeping the tranny together. I will be recording it on my GForce meter which is pretty accurate.

A local guy has a stage 2 SC Vette that puts down 500whp. His car weighs 3300lbs. (6.6 lbs per hp)

My car makes 300-310whp with current tame map and weighs in at 1886lbs on a junk yard scale (6.2 lbs per hp)

We lined up from a 30mph cruise in second and I pulled on him in second, third and fourth till I let off at 125mph.

My high rev and slightly better power to weight was about a good sec (8-10 car lengths) ahead at 125 from 30.

Next time I will hopefully have battery in my go pro. What a rush to pull on a car with such power.

He was impressed with how my 818 looks, sounds and pulls hard.Labor of love right guys.

Chris, thanks for posting the data and results. Sounds like it all came together perfect.
I have the awic set up as well but not running yet. Good to hear it's working well. And thanks for the details on how you installed it.

It is a lot of fun, it can pull on so many cars it gets boring, but the setup is currently working great for street driving.

    Doesn't look good.

Did you break the splines inside the hub? Apparently on a 2wd setup non-STI hub splines (those with 24 splines) may break over 400hp since they are not very large, but you are not that close to 400, maybe you didn't break them, can't see clearly on the pic.

Wow, you broke them at the exact same place several other folks have...... not good. Be sure to tell FFR about this. You are the third person I've read about this happening to this year.

I think one of the other guys mentioned he found an axle shop who could make stronger axles. Not sure of cost though.

Well that's my point. There are a few limitations in that axle/hub setup, fix one, the other will hit you. Assuming you have enough power.

DriveShaftShop can do anything and they have a solution for stronger axles, CVs and also hubs, if anyone needs that (not saying Chris broke that, just saying with enough power you can).
