Only if you are aware of the times at VIR for the top, totally sorted, factory-backed pro racing classes will that number truly impress you!!!
Great job, John!
After meeting John, Mark, Brendan in March at VIR and seeing the car, their determination, and creativity I had no doubt they would crack 2:00 the next time out. Great work guys!
Even though my Gen 3 Coupe will be totally a street car it is amazing to see what it can be capable of.
Wow! That is impressive on a new chassis that is just beginning to show its potential. The bar keeps creeping up guys!!
Considering a Porsche 911 GT3 was only 1.4 seconds faster, the next fastest car was a 2017 Dodge Viper ACR, and an Ariel Atom was 7 seconds slower, I'd call that a very solid showing for a car that was only put together a month ago!

I see Wayne got a 1:59.9 in the 818 and John got in the 1:58's. Congrats to both Wayne and John for going sub 2:00

Congrats John,
I knew he would get there this new gen3 coupe has some major potential.
Not surprised by John but am really happy to see Wayne do well in the 818. I think they have more to show.

Never doubted John would get under 2 flat with the new car, sorry I didn't get to see it in person. Wayne also did an awesome job with the 818. There were many nice FFR's at the Car Corral on Saturday as well as the FFR Show Cars and a couple of Challenge Cars also running the UTCC. I still haven't decided if Austin's 427 Roadster or John's Coupe sounds better I could sit by the Lodge and listen to both of 'em accelerate all day.

John & Crew,
Awesome video!!! You were flying in the new car. I think you have a couple more seconds to shave off. The car sounded and performed really well.
Congrats for a fine job of building and racing. Best of luck this summer.

Car had issues for sure, oil pressure not where it should be. And the rear brakes still knocking back the pads causing me to pump brakes before brake zone (partially due to my stubborn nature insisting on using front wilwoods on rear.) Trans was hard to shift too, so clutch change in the future.
We will get all that fixed and try again. Keep in mind this is a development year sorting out the car. I had 12 years on the old Challenge car.. this 3 months of racing.
There is a couple of seconds to be had.

Dateline: Somewhere in the Eastern US.
Reporter: John, Mark and Brendan, So you guys take a bunch of component parts from reputable manufacturers, spend barely a month putting them together in a single car garage in rural PA, throw a quick paint job on, go to VIR with minimal testing, line up against various other race cars, and expect to run sub 2 minute lap times?
John, Mark and Brendan, (in unison), WELL YEAH!
Really great job!! The others better watch out when the car is fully sorted. Have a great year! All the FF5 community is pulling for you.

I missed the Friday, but managed to watch most races on the Saturday.
1) When the top racers go for it, they really go for it. Bumper to bumper. Breath taking. I haven't got the cahones to drive like that.
2) There is huge variability between the drivers. The fastest cars don't always win.
3) The coupe looked much more settled on the track. It just went where it was being pointed and looked smooth.
4) VIR is a beautiful track. You can't get a sense of the height changes from watching it on TV.

Congratulations to John and his hard-working, talented team on the outstanding showing at the GRM UTCC! Huge accomplishment for the new chassis, and knowing you guys, those lap times will certainly keep falling.
Kudos to Wayne on his outstanding showing in the 818 as well! He single-handedly prepped that car at his home shop, Very Cool Parts in Alabama, and then drove to perfection. Way to go!
Very proud of the entire FFR team!! It's been a long time coming, but with these fine performances in the books, it's clear that 2017 is the year we all put the "R" back in FFR!
