We all push the rules to the limit. Sometimes things go unnoticed or people feel they are not worth mentioning. However, when these things are noticed, they will be ruled upon especially during tech inspections or under protests.

With that said and Nationals looming before us, we need to address a situation that has been pointed out. This is in regards to the way the hood is mounted on a Challenge Series car.

It has become quite common for car owners to mount their hoods in such a way that the rear of the hood (at the cowl) is above the body thus venting air from under the hood. Some are very obvious as they use some type of "bumper" to raise the hood at all times. The other method is a little less noticeable as the hood only raises at speed. This is accomplished by the setting the rear hood pins higher thus allowing the air to "push" the hood open.

Any mounting of the hood that does not securely mount the hood in the hood opening as intended at all times is illegal. It is a direct violation of both rule 6.1 (body contours) and 6.3b (serves another purpose).

This is something that easy to fix so get it done before your next event, especially Nationals.
