Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. Am in the process of the final assembly of my hot rod. I noticed that I do not have any door sill aluminum covers. Are they supposed to be included in the kit or are they a option? Thanks Ray

They came with my Gen 1 kit. I can post a pic of what I was sent a little later today.

I don't believe there are any true door sill covers. There are the pre-bent aluminum pieces that attach over part of the door sill and secure the top edge of the carpet but that's it. It would be nice if someone came up with a nice fabricated piece to wrap from the rear waterfall, across the door sill and up the rounded portion of the front door opening.
Jim, thanks for your response. I thought there must be something that goes there as the sill paint would get damaged when you get in and out of the car, also it would cover the carpet seam. I was not able to find any reference of them in the manual. (not surprising) Ray
RR, there is that crude small piece that Jim referred to, it does hide the carpet edge and protect part of the door. However, as cob427sc said, it would be much nicer to have a properly finished longer pieces that looks professional. Innovative rodding does have a very nice door sill bit it is quite short and doesn't go all the way back to the waterfall etc.

It’s only an L shaped piece of aluminum. F33rod, do I have it on backwards?
The piece on the running board shows the other side.

Jim, I was thinking the other way around so it covers the carpet edge. I thought putting it on the way you show would likely interfere with the heads of the screws attaching the body at the door sill

I don’t have it fastened yet, just sitting there for the pic.
I had it this way to cover up the screws. Think I’ll get more aluminum so I can make it a U to cover both sides.

Thanks, I’d swear I didn’t have these or ever seen them before but this weekend I rearranged the garage and found these down behind my toolbox!! Interesting idea.. will cover up the body sill in case I need to space it as most seem to. But as Jim suggests I may make a better one.

Thanks guys! After reading your responses I contacted Dave B. He informed me that I did not in fact receive them with my kit. He already sent a pair out. Jim what is that aluminum piece that is on the waterfall? Is there supposed to be another aluminum piece for the waterfall to body seam? Ray

Ray, that is the edge of the waterfall. I’ve painted it titanium silver.

Jim, from what I can see it looks nice! Could you send me a better picture of your idea? Thanks Ray
Ray, a pic of the painted waterfall?
I haven’t made the U shaped cover yet. Probably won’t get to that for a while, still doing body work, ugh.

Jim no problem. I feel your pain about the body work! I think it took me 2 months before I was satisfied. I had so many pin holes in the fiberglass it drove me crazy. I used a lacquer based primer for the initial body work. I then sealed it and painted. Unfortunately I found a few pin holes that I missed. Luckily none on the body, hood or doors. If I ever do another one after I have finished all the body work I would shoot it with uro-prime and do a another final sand. Ray
I have a set from Dan Ruth that look nice. I can't post any pictures right now as they are packed for moving. As soon as I can locate them at the new house, I'll slip them on and post pictures.

They are ~28 inches long and pretty much cover the flat area of the door sill. You can get them with a custom design if you want.

How do I contact Dan Ruth? I'd be interested in a set for my car. I made some but they don't have a great "finished" look.

Thanks for the contact info. Their website is currently unavailable to show their products so I have emailed an inquiry about the sill covers,
Hmmm works fine for me right now. I've heard he responds better to calls than email - 602 332-5398

I actually made some as well from polished stainless, they look amazing until they don't and they are in an area that gets a lot of traffic. I opted to spray the area with a Raptor Guard product. It wears good and still looks clean.
