I've had the same shock trying to buy a hat a few years ago. They use flat rate shipping with FedEx on most everything and it is ridiculous for small items. I called them and they were able to give me a quote on USPS shipping that was a lot less.

On another car project I shipped a metric transmission to Martin Crawler (west coast) for rebuild. They offered to bill me for shipping both ways. It cost me well over $100 to ship it out.
They return shipped it for $70. I asked how that could be? They have a volume based shipping cost structure. My bad.
I recently shipped an FFR fuel fill assembly to another forum member for $6.10.
