ok..Happy days!!!! Running on all 4 and it is quick and sounding right! now I can button up everything and get it to the paint booth....nothing left to add, all mods done... finally!!!

Electromotive quickly diagnosed the issue on my ECU, quick turn around and now we're set...great working with companies that stand behind their stuff...my 3rd car with their ECU and you can bet the next one will also have one in it!!!

Wow, I played that last vid about 20 times!
The guy walking on the sidewalk never stopped or looked. Just a normal day on Erik's block, eh?
Erik, I know you used the donor ABS and I've searched your photos looking for the proportioning valve. Did you use the proportioning valve? I'm trying to figure out if I should with my ABS on the 818. I think not. Thanks.

The first customer go-cart! (You don't count Wayne )

Erik, how close are you to performance testing? Is it aligned? Any other mechanicals at all to do or are you REALLY ready for paint?

    Dave,

    1. the alignment will be done tomorrow...
    2. I just re-wrapped the engine harness so that is done.
    3. I need to get some NPT caps for the manifold...
    4. I need an air filter
    5. Need to install the floor under the seats
    6. need to install the seats all the way
    7. need to install the seat belts
    8. Need to get some more gas...went through 5 gallons just driving it around the block....a few times

I will probably get up to 3 done tomorrow and then I will COMPLETELY reinstall all the body panels to ensure the final fit is done since I am sanded down to 320 grit. Should make for some nice pictures...

Now that it is running great I need to run down to Wayne's and get the tune finished as well...need some time to do that....

I have been holding off doing a bunch of stuff since I was having engine issues...with that behind me I am really focused on paint. I'd say a couple of weeks at least...I need to pick up some speakers too...need tunes! With the gov't potentially shutting down next week I may get a lot of stuff done

    3 months!!! Not bad!
Really deep sound, I like it! Maybe I don't need an H6.

Is the engine powerful under 3k? I mean are you missing any torque?

And Erik, are you dumping your WG to atmosphere?
Sorry that I'm asking for the 3rd time.

Frank, I saw a video where some guys dyno tested the same engine using different waste gate dump methods and found no difference in power.

Power no, lag maybe. But I doubt you can actually feel it.
Some say it helps exhaust flow as the WG dumps in its own pipe, reducing pressure in the exhaust pipe, but I dunno.

I actually saw the video myself. I'd have to say I'm highly doubtful it makes any difference in any way whatsoever (other than the sound)...

ok...here it is ready for final sand..alignment completed.. .final fit prior to paint seems to be good...a couple of adjustments still need to made but at least it is easier to do now than when it's painted... doors are just sitting on their spacers but fit is fine.

I did a walk around vid and an idle vid as well...kinda tired so this will be all for today...

Thanks! I'm hoping to finish up the sanding this week after the gov't shuts down...also going install the speakers and amp... Have to make an adjustment on the window frame where the hood comes down and then add some ribs to the hood....still a lot of detail work that all adds up to more time... I also want to address my tire rub up front..looks like I will get just a little more out of it but not much...oh well...I will get really good at 3 point turns I guess...lol..thankfully the steering is very light.

Congratulations, looks great! All that sanding is the hardest part, no one usually understands how much time paint prep takes.

Well you fooled me. I was using the car color as a comparison, I thought it was just because of the cloudy day. Looks great.

Have you mentioned what color? I've gone through the whole thread but I look at the pic's first, read later, old habit.
    Nice work.

BTW did you install the whole shifter box or just the top plate? does it sandwich the aluminum?

    Cool

I like the choice you made for the exhaust. It reminds me of one of Vman's design.

I took the box off. The plate is attached to the frame at the rear, and sandwiched to the frame in the front.

    car will be red.

The exhaust placement idea wasn't my idea...I stole it...

Need to get some more gas...went through 5 gallons just driving it around the block....a few times
On that subject, what do you say if you get pulled over? I live down the street from Lucas Oil Raceway so the local cops are fairly used to this kind of thing I'm just wondering how to get out of a ticket.

Officer sir, I wanted to make sure everything was safe before I let my daughter drive at the track. Wouldn't you do the same.

If that doesn't work. Ask him if he would like to take it for a spin.

I figured this would come up....

We have a local cop in the sub-division, so I informed him of my intent...also we checked with every neighbor on the street prior to getting on the street to ensure that the kids were in school or at least inside...my sub-division is a dead-end as well...I had several people cheer me on from their doors as I went down the street cause everybody has been by the house to see the car and they knew I was getting close. It was actually pretty cool. In the end, was I wrong...yes...so I am not looking to get out of anything...Oct 27th is the next SCCA event, so I will trailer there to actually PLAY... assuming I am done sanding!

I've taken my f500 down the street. Don't do it often but after a full down to frame rebuild an autocross isn't where you want to find issues. As long as you're going slow and not being a tool bag you're less likely to grab attention. In the end you might have some explaining to do.

I just paid for a permit online ($28 IIRC) last time I needed to drive my unlicensed ute (XY Ford Falcon), it covers you for injuries to other people but not damage to objects (other cars, buildings etc) my insurance company covers damage to objects as long as I've got the permit. The permit enables you to drive it to get it repaired/ vehicle inspections and testing purposes, and is good for 48 hours. No plates are required unless it should have a set. So far I've used these maybe a dozen times and almost everytime I've passed a cop going the other way and they didn't even stop me, one time I passed them on the state highway as they were doing 5-10 below the limit and still did not get pulled over.

The kit does not have a vin until registered so permit, insurance or anything is inot going to help if you get pulled over, it is impoundment
