    IRS shock binding problem

Hi. I have an mk iv roadster with IRS and pin drive. No matter how I set the rear end up or adjust shock bushings the lower hat of the spring binds on the lower a arm cross member shocks are Koni 30-1721. Got any ideas? Thanks

The car I have here has plenty of clearance. Its not a pin drive though. Can you post some pictures? How about a short spacer on the shock rod to move the spring hat away from the rod end a bit?

I have pin drive IRS. I too had issues with the Konis not clearing the a-arms. I changed to QA-1s. No issues.

I have IRS but not pin drive. The shock had the same problem using the FFR spacers, one long, the other short. I made spacers to replace the FFRs that were .75" long each and they centered the shock in the mount and eliminated the binding on the top hat. That may help you also.

Did you just change the shock end or the whole shock assembly? Do you know the part numbers you used? Thanks

    I purchased the QA-1 shocks/springs from Breeze.
