I didn't care for the entry/exit limitations of the 818. I have dihedral syncro-helix door hinges that I made. I will be installing those along the way.

So it looks like you went with the zero degree angle adapter. Did you get it from SubaruGears or Kennedy?

Glad to see you’re still out there! Door hinges look good.

I went zero degree from SubaruGears. I had to get the flywheel modified to accept the Honda flywheel bolts. They screwed up and made the counterbores too small.

I've got the AT Power dry sump kit, so I saw no need to keep the engine angled.

Still alive, but the 818 is low priority.

I'm excited to see this K24 swap! I'm afraid to track my 818 due to all the Subaru engine failures I've seen online.

How many Subaru's (or 818's) have you seen on-line going to a track having a blast? Failures aren't from going to the track. They're from crappy 400hp builds, not paying attention to temperatures, etc. Admittedly, I blew out 3rd gear with about 290hp. Take any car on track and you're gonna find the weak spots. I've got 16 track days on my 818 and I feel like only now I've got it pretty much sorted out... until the next thing. I certainly am not giving up on Subaru and over this build process I'm learning to make it reliable as many many quality WRX track cars have also done.

Donut Media bashed Subaru's in their WRX HiLow series. Flatirons Syndicate podcast has a great retort / explanation. My 4 seconds of internet fame, sort of... In the last bit of the Donut Media WRX HiLow Finale with the Hi car and fastest driver at Sonoma Raceway, that's me in my 818 he's chasing (he wasn't catching me).

Don't be afraid to get your car on track! You don't have to flog the **** out of it and brake **** (like I do). My advice: Safety first. Use a 3 point seatbelt system if you have the FFR OEM 818C/S roll bar. 4 point is ridiculous unsafe and a 5/6 point isn't safe with a non-broomstick rollbar. Use only the best oil (I use Motul Sport 5-40). Particularly if it's a really hot day, keep an eye on oil temperature. Make sure you have some meat on the brake pads. Have fun!!!

I know tracking any car will highlight its weaknesses, it just seems like the EJ's are more difficult to make reliable. I've seen it done, but it's more challenging. If the Donut guys had bought a couple 15yr old Civic Si's, I doubt they would have gone through 5 motors like they did with their WRX's. Maybe they didn't add the proper supporting mods to their WRX's, but that's just it, they're temperamental. They've turbo'd 350Z's, Miata's, engine swapped junkyard v8's and none of them have failed. It's a small focus group but one that I think is realistic. Average car guys. It's also interesting that several guys on here have switched from an EJ to a Honda K motor. I believe it's for reliability but could be wrong. I'll have to look for you on the video!

    I have a 3pt already so that's a good start!

Working on the engine mounts. I got an arcdroid so I’m having a lot of fun making these.

Andrew, hope everything is well. I should finish my 818 this year. Most of the work is complete, putting the fine points on everything before paint. Looking forward to coming back to Michigan for a rendezvous with you.
