    MK4 Wilwood Pedal Box Question

    All

I'm building up the Wilwood pedal box on my Mk4 roadster and wanted to post a pic here with a couple of questions:

    1. The clutch and brake light switches are huge. Do I screw them all the way in ?
    2. The manual says use a hex nut either side of the mount yet the picture in the manual only shows a single hex nut ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yea, those are different switches than what FF used to provide. Got those with my Coupe kit in December as well. Pretty big, but no reason they won't work OK. Don't get too wrapped up in adjusting them right now, number of nuts, whatever. Wait until the pedal box is installed, the arms adjusted, and then adjust the switch location so they are just pushed in when the pedal is at rest. Probably will take a nut on each side to hold in the right location. But just do whatever is necessary at that time.

BTW, with a Coyote you have a potentially different switch on the clutch side. If you purchased the FF Coyote install kit, they provided a bracket to mount the Ford top clutch switch included in the Coyote controls pack. The switch you have can work too. Just have to break into the wiring in the controls pack (no big deal...) versus plugging in the Ford provided switch. Your choice. There's also another clutch switch activated when the clutch pedal is pushed all the way down in the Ford controls pack, and the FF install kit includes brackets for that one as well.

Thanks for the info. Yes, I have the FF Coyote install kit too. I'll take a look in there tonight to see what was included.

Are the clutch switches included in the engine controls pack M-6017-A504V ? I looked in my MK4 parts list and cannot find them anywhere.

    thanks!

The Factory Five Coyote install kit includes the brackets. The Ford engine controls pack has the actual switches. That's what I think I said in my post. Sorry if it wasn't more clear. Just trying to save you time messing around with the clutch switch bracket you showed in your first post if you're planning on doing the Coyote installation and use the Ford provided clutch switches. The picture below shows what they look like BTW. The top switch on the left, the bottom switch in the center, and the previously provided style brake light/clutch switch provided by Factory Five on the right.

Now, big question. You cite engine controls pack M-6017-A504V. That's the controls pack for the Gen 1 Coyote 2011-2014 version. Is that really what you're using? If you buy a Coyote crate motor new today, it will be the Gen 2 2015-2017 version, and uses engine controls pack M-6017-504V. Big difference and they're not compatible. You have to use the correct controls pack with the proper generation Coyote. The switches I'm talking about here are used on the Gen 2 Coyote. They are explained in the Ford instructions here, along with everything else provided: https://performanceparts.ford.com/do..._504V_REV3.PDF

EdwardB, I plan on using a Gen2, so from the FFR Coyote fitment instructions:

M-6017-A504VA – 2011-14 5.0L engine control pack with speed dial wires
    M-6017-A504V – 2015 & newer 5.0L engine control pack

I think I have the right part ??

Don't know what to tell you. M-6017-504V is the right number for the 2015+ Coyote controls pack. You don't have to take my word for it. Check the Ford website, the instructions I linked previously, etc.

M-6017-A504V is the part number for the Gen 1 controls pack. M-6017-A504VA is a later release of the Gen 1 controls pack that included a speed dial assembly to solve a stalling problem. Fixed in the Gen 2. And one of the reasons fro the two clutch switches, BTW.

EdwardB, thanks for the help. I'll go over the part numbers again. You're right in that the ford performance instruction sheets line up with your part numbers but differ with the FFR instructions. Definitely going Gen2 so I'll make sure I get the correct parts
