Body Buck build question for MK IV
Hi everyone-we are prepping for the big arrival day and are working on building the body buck. We are following the plans from FFR, but we noticed that in the picture in the manual (on page 23), it seems there are some additional support pieces that are not mentioned or listed in the the blueprint plans for the buck at the back of the manual. Are those needed/recommended? If so, could anyone please explain what those support pieces are? Should we add them?
Sorry if this is a novice question-I'm the mom in our family of four that will be building this car and I'm in charge of figuring this one out (this is my first post)!
thank you.

The blue print plans supplied are plenty stout and they are designed to be built from a single sheet of plywood and a few 2 x 4's. The photo in the manual is a buck FFR has probably been rolling around the factory for 50 builds. You can add taller legs to store boxes underneath, casters to roll it around, hooks to hang it from the rafters, etc. Customize it to fit your workspace and needs but you won't need to beef it up. By the way, welcome and go mom!

You should add your address (state) in your signature. I have a buck you could have, if you live near Atlanta. Someone near you might have one their finished with.

Congrats on the build. I'm waiting on delivery of my kit in August. We just finished making our body buck using these plans: https://www.ffcars.com/FAQ/bodybuck02.html
I modified the plans by subtracting 3" from the OSB ends and then adding the 3" to the 42" mark on the legs. This will give me more clearance underneath as we will have the frame on a lift during the build. I also raised the entire structure by only subtracting 1/2 the height of the wheels from the now 45" mark on the legs. This should give me 47" clearance under the buck. Good luck with your build.
