The RED shocks can be mounted either way.
I installed mine with the hat on the top and the threaded collar on the bottom.
You can see them on the attached video between 40-50 seconds in.

I originally installed per the version of the manual I received, but the springs were way too close to the brackets. After consulting with the experts, I flipped the rear shocks over and all was good.

I did the same as Papa... originally installed per manual, then inverted them for clearance. Straight axle rear.

Boyd makes a good point by referencing that this is for a solid axle. What rear suspension are you building? Regardless, the red-body Koni shocks can be mounted with the body in either orientation (up or down). The double adjustable Koni shocks must be oriented a specific way.

Thanks for all the info gentlemen. For the record I've got the Independent Suspension Rear.
Body up 'if' you don't have a clearance issue, a slight improvement of less sprung weight.

I might add, when I was installing mine someone pointed out that with the spring down there's potential for the brake lines to get inside the the coils of the shock while it's going thru it's cycles. That was the main reason I went body down.
