thanks guys. I'm over in Pomona right now. Looking for a house also so things gonna be getting hectic soon haha. Hey help is always good to have. This is my first time doing anything like this also and it is definitely a learning experiance. I'm glad I still have so much time till the kit comes so that I don't feel too rushed or anything. I need to be a bit more organized with the bolts. I put them in zip lock baggies labeled for the most part but I forget when i get on a roll lol

Zodiac, Congratulations on picking up your WRX. I've decided to pick one up as well. Can you tell me more about copart? Did you use a broker? if so, which one? Did you limit your search to California? It seems that a lot of guys are using copart. Is there any chance you could do a "this is what you need to know about purchasing thru copart" post?

Lets start a new thread for that. In fact, perhaps it would be good to have a 'how I found my donor' thread.

ok lagged on loading mor pics but as of 11-8-12 I got the tranny pulled. Now I think I'm gonna focus on clearing the wiring harness out of the engine bay and all the other little pieces I'll probably be needing.

good pick for the 06 wrx thats my plan well worth the 2.5 l with the avcs over the 2.0 ive owned 3 wrx's and have had some sick setups but the 2.0 is very limited when trying to get more than 300 hp and retain decent spool im thinking 06-07 2.5L with a 18 or 20g turbo setup with a bunch of goodies plus a little e85 and youre easily looking at 350whp should be a blast

yea i wanted to get the 2.5 also for the extra torque to make dd a bit more fun. I wish e85 was more readily available to me otherwise I would do that and doing the whole changing fuel maps all the time just doesnt appeal to me. I plan to get a element tuning gt52 probably and all the other stuff needed to get about 400whp give or take. glad I got till mid next year to save and get everything together haha

36-2-2-2 should be the crank according to the megamanual. Probably a cam sensor as well for varible timing

I could use the trim over the rear passenger door. The one on my 02 is all bent up. Its one long piece but can be seaparated so its not a 6' long part you're trying to ship.

Oh the metal one haha yea I got it off. It doesn't come apart though cause of two little spot welds. Do you also need the rubber seal also or just the metal piece?

Soooooo finally got around to updating this. Been busy with work and moving into the new house and getting everything situated. Finally got around to tearing down the engine.

by the way **** those cam gears are on tight. I ended up having to drill out all 4. Other than that all went pretty smooth. Anyone know a place in Socal around Pomona area that does engine work so I can get is cleaned, decked, honed, and what not so I can start building it back together?

While not near Pomona, I've used Millennium Motorsports out of Temecula for a few engine builds. Pricing is about average, but Greg's attention to detail is great and he has the experience to know what he is doing.

Cool thanks. Yea Temecula isn't too far to get the work done especially knowing it's reputable. Plus I can head over to Pechanga and do some gambling while I'm in the area haha
