Hangin' with the big dogs... (PICS)

I got the hot tip on a local underground Saturday morning gathering and today I checked it out for the first time. The locals were nice folks, but this was one gathering where the Cobra was relegated to an idol curiosity rather than the star of the show. I'm glad to report that quite a few folks were interested in ol' 5369, especially when cost of of ownership was discussed! ol' Blue was one of the cheaper rides there. I think she rep'd FFR well!

Check it out: Here's a couple of GT's owned by some guy named Dan...

Interesting bubble top on the older one. What do they call that again?

The Ford GT's weren't the only exotics there (or the only GT's!). Lambos are pretty common and there were a couple that cruised through but I didn't get pics. But that's not all that was there. The mix was quite eclectic:

Folks like their Porches around here:

    Finally, here's a few more:

    ...and, ol' Blue!

This location was the site of a previous cars and coffee until it was banned. All the guys showing up now are locals so we'll see if it can persist without getting out of hand.

These pics aren't going on Facebook or Instagram. They are exclusively for my buddies on this forum!

    Enjoy!

    David,

Thank you. Great photos, cool collection. Great plates, I'm trying to guess who DG is..... Probably "Da Guy" or something like that.

I had an opportunity to go to a Cars n Coffee in the LA area a few years ago, WOW! Way better than what I'm accustomed to in Michigan.

I had a chance to go to the cars &coffee in Irvine early Sat morning several yrs ago, much like what you saw, quite a mix, but there were also some cool hot rods when I went.

Thanks for great pix. Went to the closest local show I have around here last Saturday - one of many here in North-West Indiana. We see about 99% American iron around here, so I have to get an occasional "exotics fix" through postings like yours. I still drool over XKE's after all these years.

    Nice photos!
    What a great turnout.

Our local Cars & Coffee has turned into a bunch of factory cars. Very few classic cars or anything of interest anymore.

Very nice David! I like what they have down with the new Ford GT. I used to be a huge fan of Porsche’s but alas it seems as though that has passed me by years ago likely due to seeing them all over now due to the various models. Love the old classics though of anything.

Nice pics! The name for that hump on the top of the older Ford GT in your first picture is a Gurney Bubble.

Yep, and both of those GT's were owned by him. I was joking around a bit in the first post. He lived in Newport Beach before passing away this past January. I didn't ask who drove them to the gathering but if I see them again I'll try to find out their current status.

I saw one of these one time IN a restaurant up in Oklahoma City. They had cut it up and made it into a salad bar. I refused to eat there.

Wow, quite a show, David! I remember reading an article several years back in Road and Track where the editor of the magazine was having dinner with Dan Gurney and his wife. It was Dan's birthday and as dessert was served, a red Ford GT pulled up in front of the window where Dan and his party were seated. It had a red bow tied around it ... Dan's wife surprised him with quite a birthday gift!

I got the “Dan” reference right away... I heard he passed away I thought he lived in PV, guess not
    Where was that ‘gathering’ at?
