I took on the challenge of installing the oem center console from my 06 STI donor. Have a look. Its a bit of a pain to work things out and i wouldve done things differently the second time, but this is good for now.

Wow....... That is all.....
That center console turned out phenomenal. Good work!
Thanks guys. Im really happy with it. Gives it that needed touch.
That center console looks like it was made for the interior. Outstanding. Can't wait to see the completed widebody.
Looks nice. What would you do differently?

Really-really nice! If I was doing an S-car I would definitely do something like this. Personally, the super-squared off interior panels always screamed "kit car" to me. This really ups the quality. Might be nice to see other folks adapt different OEM centers now that you've shown the example. Well done.
Oh, and I love me some MEATY!
Best,

very nice. storage!
did you have to remove the tunnel square bars?
A well stocked beverage fridge is the key to any successful project.
Wow, that console looks amazing. And the head lights look really nice too - have you tried aligning them yet? And if so, could you post a pic?
Man, I wish I'd thought to keep the console from my donor. This looks great.
I doubt there's room for donor seats though. It was awfully tight even with the kit tunnel installed on mine.
Now I'm really jealous! Yours may be my new favorite build.
One more part to save from the donor! I like the result, why reinvent the wheel? Great job.
My 03 forester's console looks the same from the shifter back.
Console looks great, kinda wish I did move my seats closer together. You do realize how much we're all anticipating the body mods right? Keep up the good work!!!

Hey Kurk818 was wondering what shiftier did you? Was it the one FFR provides or was it the K-Tuned?
Thanks for the info.
Louis
P.S. You interior look Great!
I like your console fit, wish I had done it.

I'd like to use an STI but don't want to widen fenders. Are there off-the-shelf rims that correct this offset or is the offset too much?
Ok, thanks Kurk. Just to be clear though STI 6spd with STI axles put the factory rims too far out requiring new rims, correct? Sorry to hijack!
Kurt, love the console....... I may have to look around for a console from an 06/07

The photos do a bad job of showing actual color but there is a distinguishable color difference between the gray console and black dash. A wrap may be in the future.
On my classic '71 Buick GS, I repainted some 30+ year old plastic seat backs, kick panels, etc, some refreshing the faded black, some changing color from brown to black, and all I did was clean them well with dish soap and water, thoroughly dry, cleaned with alcohol, and sprayed on the SEM plastic paint from the rattle can. Lasted fine for over a decade of abuse, and had no peeling or anything.
If anything, the chemical paint formulations must be even better today. I am wondering if all the prep mentioned in that thread is really required if you use the correct paint and common sense.
Looks great. I am doing the same with my 04. Do you have photos of the modification to the emergency brake fixation since it has to tilt down to clear the console and be slightly off the center line?
