4.6 DOHC Footbox Clearance Drivers side

The inner wall of the drive side footbox must be modified so the 4.6 can fit. The FF manual says to place a bend in the panel about 10 inches from the front. If I bend the panel it appears that it not match up correctly with the top panel of the footbox. I now see that they have new panel for the coyote motor. Should I purchase the new panel or work with what I have an make the bend?

The new panels will give added foot room and clear the 4.6 headers/heads. I think the panel set also gets you the outer panel for a little more foot room on the outer side as well. Unless you have the tools and materials to fab your own, the Coyote panel set is well worth the $200 investment.

Was your car ordered for the 4.6L? Mine was ordered with the 4.6L component installation kit and I believe (not 100% certain) that it came with different aluminum panels. I don't recall having to bend anything and everything lined up great.

The revised panels 2bking is talking about are new within the past 6-8 months. Not the same as the previous 4.6 and Coyote sheet metal that was basically just the same piece with an extra bend in it. At the significant expense of lost foot space for the driver. My understanding is that the new sheet metal is provided with all kits now. It's mandatory for the wider engines, but even for more traditional SBF's, give some nice additional space to the engine on the DS. Plus extra space for the driver on the outside.
