Another one on the road!
I'm excited to announce that #7999 is officially legal and on the road! The state of Pennsylvania has found it in its heart to issue tags for my 450 hp rocket, despite the alarming amount of zip ties and pool noodles used in its construction. The first 60 miles have been fantastic, way better than I thought it would be. Plan is to shake it down in gel coat for the next year while I finish the final bits and upgrades Id like to do, then off to paint.
Thanks to all the posts and threads on these forums to help me get to this point, wouldn't have been remotely possible without this group.
See you on the road!
-Craig

Congratulations from the other "Pennsylvania Craig"!! So glad to hear that you're already enjoying the beast. I'm making good progress on my "resurrection" build of a 2008 Mk 3.1 and plan to take it to the US Vintage Grand Prix at Watkins Glen on 9/5/19. It may not be PA registered by then but at least I can drive it around the paddock there! I, like you, am going to drive it in gel-coat for the first year while I sort things out.
If you are ever up in the State College area, give me a call. I'd love to see your car and compare notes. Cell is 814-777-2999.

Thanks. Yeah, I’m close to that, I have 3.31 which so far seems like a great combo, has been surprisingly drivable given all the power.

I set up a spread sheet a while back for my friend and former co-worker, F-5 Forum Member Smithbks, so the numbers should be spot on.
Brian has a 427 Windsor with a standard ratio TKO-600 behind it so his 3.31 rear end gears really work well. His combo works because of the crazy torque that the 427 engine has. He has stated that he loves the 3.31 rear but still must watch the go-pedal since his car will knock the tires loose in the first three gears with no problem.
Cruising down the interstate his car is right at the bottom of the power band but with no lugging what so ever so I think the 3.31's are a better option than 3.55's or 3.73's with a big inch engine with so much torque.
Happy Motoring!

Thanks for the note, I went to Penn State way back when so know the area well. I'll PM you my details as well if you're ever in the Philly area. Also, let me know if you have any questions about the PA inspection process as you get closer, it's manageable just need to find the right enhanced inspection shop and auto tag store that knows what they're doing. Especially since you also bought an unfinished roadster that I assume has an MCO from FFR in a different person's name, can cause some confusion. I got through it though.
