Looking for Rearview Mirror Options
I'm looking for a windshield mounted mirror that looks appropriate for the MK4. I don't want to drill holes in the cowl for the FFR kit mirror and a top channel mirror may not work with my premium soft top. What options have others used? I found a few posts from older threads about an option from Terry's Mirrors, but don't see anything on their website (sent them an email). I like the slider rod style mirrors, but can't seem to find any details about how the rod mounts. Any and all recommendations are appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

Terry already responded with a great looking option that matches his mirrors, which I already have, very nice.

Do you have a photo of the option your looking at from Terry's Mirrors, or a link to it?
I've also been wondering about alternatives to the cowl mounted mirrors. I already have the wind wing mounted mirrors from The Dream Car Company and the Premium Soft Top

I just got the premium top for mine and i am trying to figure out a way to raise my mirror about an inch, i already have the holes in the cowling so really need to use them for the mirror.
Anybody out there found a solution yet, would like some ideas.

I have the standard mirror on the cowl, and I bought a parts rear view mirror, screwed the mounting plate to the header and swapped a thumb screw for the set screw. It goes on when the top does

Have you considered a rod mounted mirror like the old British cars had?

If the dash mount doesn't do it for you, I would go for a windshield support rod and put it there. Some competition cars had a ray-dot mirror for rear view. (Just in case you are seeing too much in the stock one - LOL) I am not a fan of aftermarket / hot rod stuff on a Cobra. Often good looking stuff, but not right looking to me.

It’s hard to drill that freshly painted cowl but I did and I’m very happy with the kit mirror. It’s stable and I like looking over it rather than having it obscure any forward vision (tall guy problem).

Steve,
If it weren't for the top, I'd probably have just used the kit mirror. I also can't use the alternative windshield channel mounts with the top. I considered the Finish Line mirror with the slider, but couldn't tell how the slider installed on the windshield frame. I ended up ordering the glue-on mirror that Terry tipped me off to. I think it looks very similar to the side view mirrors and won't look out of place.

I have the speedway mirrors Kpt112 mentioned. They fit well on the windshield post outside of the wind wings. No vibration and are functional unlike the bullet mirrors that come with the kit.

I don't have an issue with the stock mirror and top. That could be dependent on how tall you are ad how your seat is mounted, though.

For rear-view mirror a salvage yard Ford mirror is great and you will really be glad you have the day/night function. Glued to the windshield with UV6800. Here in the photos of our car it is hardly noticable: https://www.breezeautomotive.com/sho...tive-show-car/

I installed one of these

Good visibility, day/night, no vibrations. Money well spent.
Oh yeah, and these for each side. One convex one flat.

I have to agree with Mark. A Ford mirror glued to the windshield is great! The FFR one was cracked when I got my kit. Tossed it and never looked back!

I just recently put these same convex peep mirrors down low on both sides and very happy with them. Previously, for 17 years, I had a flat windshield post mirror mounted in front of the side wind screen on the DS and nothing on the PS. Rear side visibility was always marginal. I had to modify the peeps a bit to fit on the posts and reverse the side wind screen mounts to make room for them.

My mirror on the cowling has served me well for years, with the new soft top i cant see out the rear window, i have looked at the rod on the windshield but then need to do something with 2 holes in cowling.

Any recommendations on a small, factory, glue on, dimming, windshield mount model?
Looking to find something that does not over power the windshield.
