Still undecided on if I am going with a solid color or stripes and roundels. Bought some static cling roundels. Figured I'd get feedback during this season to help me decide. Any thoughts?

Looks good! You are a few steps ahead of me in your build. I'm trying to make the same choice about how "racy" to make the final paint. I'm considering stripes but not painting the rondels. The static cling rondels are practical and perhaps more versatile. Throw 'em on for a meet up or car show, peal 'em off for around town.

Did you mount your windshield, or is it just sitting there? I may be a ways from paint myself, and I'm trying to figure out what to mount and what to wait on. Did mounting the hood latches help with hood fitment?
    Thanks!

For the windshield I used a combination of foam weatherstripping and short sections of sealant. I want to be able to remove it at paint time. This was the best way I could come up with.

    Holy **** Grab Straps

I grabbed some roll bar grab straps that I found online for the passenger side roll bars. They are Jeep accessories and needed to be jury rigged but I would rather have my passenger grab these then the e-brake handle. They may also help in getting in and out. The diameter of the center roll bar is so small that I had to use a pool noodle to allow the strap to tighten.

Those grab handles are a good idea. I think the roundels look good. Are you gonna try and do the same thing with static cling or vinyl stripes?

At this point, no plan on using temp stripes.

    Thanks!
Duct tape works fine for the windshield (red of course ).

Latches and their adjustment can be a big help with the hood fit.

What size roundels did you go with? I just ordered a bunch of decal stuff from Raceline - but didn't do the roundels since my car is still with Mr. Pike in Cali and I can't get a measurement!

Trailered the car in to NYS Field Investigation today. State Police looking for stolen goods. Grins all around. Even drew the office staff out to the garage area. Everyone lit up when I started it. It took about an hour for them to complete the inspection. Passed as I knew it would. I asked the inspector if they have seen many coupes and he said no and then apologized for taking so long. He said that because they didn't see many coupes he wanted to make sure they did everything right. Now have a legal VIN number. The paperwork now has to be sent to Vehicle Safety Technical Services who will issue form VS-103 which I need to get the safety inspection. The instructions says to fax or mail a copy of the VIN number form. I don't have access to a fax machine and didn't want to wait for mail so I called and asked if I could scan it and email it to them. They agreed! Saved a couple of days there. Now waiting for them to respond.

    Congratulations Namrups!
    My Type 65 Coupe: Ordered May 27, 2021. Arrived November 19, 2021.
I would like to treat my gas pedal as a binary operator. It would be nice to get the cooperation of everyone in front of me.

    The Race is Over

I ordered my Daytona Coupe and started my build thread on 11/16/2021. I titled it “The Race is On” because I have cancer and the race was to see if I could drive my dream before the cancer took me.

I received my kit on 6/22/2022. Today is 350 days. The car is not complete. I still have bodywork/paint/interior work to finish but it is at a point where it is drivable.

I can proudly report that the race is over!! This morning I had the car safety inspected. It passed! I then took all of the paperwork to the nearest DMV and without too much drama was able to get the car registered and plated. It is now street legal!!!!

The following video is the first legal drive. At the 10 minute mark I stopped for gas. Back on the road at the 17 minute mark. Stopped video at 20 minutes. I need a better stand for my phone or maybe break down and buy a GoPro!

Put a total of 17 miles on the car before giving in to the rain. I now have a permanent smile on my face that will never go away!!

Awesome Namrup! It is funny. I got my kit 3 days after you placed your order and I am still about 800 man hours away from having it driveable. I only have about 1100 man hours in it, so far. To be far, a lot of that time has involved putting on the body and taking it off.

    Congratulations! Really happy for you.

Thanks Paul. A special thanks to you for all of your help and guidance. It is both a blast and scary to drive. Will take some getting used to and a lot of respect.
