Rear LCA and knuckle fitment issues

    Hi everyone,

We're trying to install the rear knuckles but the gap in the LCA is about 1/8" too narrow. I've read multiple posts in which people talk about using grease and a lot of force to get it in. We've tried a lot of force without success, and I don't want to use more and risk damaging the bearing on the knuckle.

I'm thinking I'm going to have to file down the LCA a bit to widen the gap slightly, apply some Loctite "plumber marine" or something similar mostly just to coat the exposed steel and aluminum surfaces and prevent corrosion, and go from there.

I'm not thrilled about having to file it, so I wanted to poll the group before I start.

    Thanks for your input!

ST. Spread the tabs out. Take a piece of all thread, washers, and nuts. The washers and nuts go in between the tabs then move in opposite way to slightly bend the tabs out. Mine were tight and used this method to get them installed. Good luck. Tom

Slather some bearing grease or SilGlide on the all the nuts, washers and threaded rod. You will be surprised how much it helps.

I always have a tube on hand. Works great for a lot of house stuff too.
