16 Years Ago Today...

In 2008, I met this old codger. I paid my $10 for an autograph and a picture. Waited in line, got up to the stage, and it went something like this:

Me: "Good to meet you, Carroll! I love your cars!"
Ole Shel: "Well thank you very much!"
Me: "I can't afford one of your cars, so I built a replica"
Ole Shel: (After his smile turned to a grimace) "Well, I hate that!"
Me: "Yes, I know you do! Would you sign my hat?"
Ole Shel: (Grabs the hat, and signs it)
Me: "Thanks, now smile for the camera!"
Ole Shel: "You son of a b*#th!"

True story. And he signed a hat purchased from a replica parts reseller. Still have that hat hanging in the shop, overlooking the build of my current replica.
