How do you attach video

Hey folks, I have a couple of videos I’d like to post with my build thread update. I think they are .mov files. I tried to attach in a post using go advanced, manage attachments, choose files, photo library like I do for pictures but it just times out. How do I attach the videos?
Is there a size or duration limit? I want to respect the Forums storage, but these are cool, I think.

There may be other ways, but for videos I've always put them in YouTube and then link to the video in your post.

Thanks edward, I’ll try that—after I figure out how to put them in my YouTube account

Yep, upload them to YouTube and then embed them in your post. If you don’t know how to use the tag click the “advanced” post option, click the video button and then paste the video url in. Not hard at all once you get the hang of it.

I don't think YewT00b shorts work well with the tag. Let's see...

original:
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/3wvo2v3F9F4

URL conversion to regular video:

Yeah, just as I thought.

To convert a short to "regular video", just change it from "/shorts/3wvo2v3F9F4" to "/watch?v=3wvo2v3F9F4" and then you can use the embed (or click the "Insert Video" icon above the text box when you're posting, 2nd from right)

Rob thanks. Almost there YouTube put them in my videos folder as shorts. You just edit the link? Where, in the forum? In YouTube I did share-copy, then in the forum I did paste and that’s the link you see. Now with this reply I hit the video button and this is the link

https://youtube.com/shorts/muZWmDj4k...UDaPr9ziaPWlYo

Do I edit this to the below to change as you describe or how?

https://youtube.com/watch?v=muZWmDj4...UDaPr9ziaPWlYo

But I’m not really seeing a difference watching them.

They may look the same on your phone or tablet.

In a web browser the non-shorts version allows you to move the time indicator (red dot across the bottom) as well as the pause and volume controls.

Can someone help explain this like I'm 5 years old? All my videos are now shorts and I can't embed them. I see Windsor was able to do it but following his instructions as best as I can it doesn't seem to be working.

Thanks

**Edit**

Ok, I figured it out but it evolved and is now a 2 step operation. First upload your video to Youtube. If it ends up a short just click the share and embed the video in your using the video icon in the forum. After pasting change "/short/" to "/watch/". No question mark or equal sign. Just change short to watch. Then it will post as hyperlink. Click the hyperlink and it will now take you to a converted short in regular youtube video mode. Then again click share, copy the new link and re embed using the video icon and it will now be an embedded youtube video.

Hope this helps.

I missed your question earlier.

The "?si=(mumble)" part is extra and can be thrown away, maybe tracking or related to a search result.

Yeah, change "shorts/" to "watch?v=" and the video will play much the same in a browser* but forum software will accept it in the tags.

* - it's actually better, IMO. You can move the bead to see/repeat any part of the video, you can adjust the volume, etc.

Again, apologies for glossing your question wholesale earlier.
