    The end is in sight

The end is finally in sight for #003. The last couple of months have been a challenge to say the least. It seemed as if I was in a never ending "one step forward, two steps back" situation. In early February I had to remove the grill/rad assembly due to a leaking radiator. After that was re installed and then refilled the cooling system, I fired up the engine only to discover the major oil leak. Engine had to come out, and so did the grill/radiator (again!!) Now that the engine is back in I think that we are back on track. While the engine was out I installed the body, doors, trunk and finished the interior.
    Here are a few pictures;

    Beautiful pics Olli! More please!

The car is really coming together. I'm very happy for you that the frustrations seem to be past you now.

Good luck with the rest of the build!

    Olli-

"Please Sir, can I have some more...".. pictures? It sure looks nice, in spite of the recent frustrations. I sure would like to see some more shots if you can.

Really nice build, and the powdercoating works great with the silver paint-- great contrast! I look forward to seeing the reveal!

    Regards,

    Steve

The chassis is powdercoated silver and is almost a dead ringer for the body color. The rear and suspension control arms were all sprayed by me in House of Kolor Brandywine. All of the aluminum that faces outwards was sprayed in black. When I put the trunk aluminum together I used black rivets, where visible, and installed them from the outside. That way the rivet head is visible rather than the rivet stub.

Here is a shot of the rear after I sprayed it.

Here are a few more pictures.

The engine back where it belongs after being fixed/rebuilt by Keith Craft.

This is a picture of the underside. It shows what I described a few posts back about how I painted all of the underside aluminum.

Here is where I found a home for the overflow. The area of the firewall that some guys use was already occupied by the HVAC bulkhead fittings.

I still have yet to bolt on the bike fenders. The lights are on the fenders.

The wheels are the FFR HR wheels.

In a word, "WOW". Very nice work. I now see what is in store for me to shoot for when I start building. Would like to see more shots of the interior. Looks like you are using a bench seat and actual seat belts. Tell us about those, unless they are in another post.
    Thanks.

I have just started on my 33, and am getting ready to install the front spindles. The manual says to install the bike fender mounts now? There are no photos or anything for installing these mounts.
Can anyone give me a push in the right direction here or maybe show me a couple of pics?

    Thanks Mike

    Mike:
I'm by no means experienced...What version of the assembly manual are you using? I picked up my '33 in April and the manual is dated August 2011 and makes no mention of the bike fender mounts. I too have the bike fenders and thought I may have missed something as I just finished page 150. Now that you mention it, I can't find any mention of the fenders in the manual. Does anyone know the best time to install these brackets? Thanks....

Mike, I am working out of revision May 2012, no mention of fenders. I can not figure out for sure where the front mounts are to be installed / spindles?

I am contacting FFR this evening, when I get word, I will pass it along.
